Novartis Oncology is toxic

The concept of toxic work environment is now personified by Novartis Oncology

Territories designed to be non-workable
Experienced reps being forced out
Questionable sales goal setting
Managers out of control
Reps out on disability
Panic sales meetings
Mindledss paperwork
Reps quitting
Low morale
Suicides

(feel free to add to the list)

What happened to what used to be a really good gig?

I thought this was the best division in the company. I should have just stayed at CV where I was treated with respect for my performance and tenure. Now, I am treated worst than a brand new rep. They are using Pharma Coaching 101 to experienced reps. Just leave us alone and let us sell.

Especially the questionable goals!!! How can they keep super increasing goals for products used mostly off label???? We can't talk about it but they can goal us on it. That makes sense..

Oh, so you mean it's like every other division of every other big pharma company?

This division was doomed when they started diversity hiring and promotions!

DM'd who had no Hem/Onc experience trying to tell seasoned reps how to sell, what to say and all the BS coaching.

Haven't had that much coaching since little league but the more anal-retentive it is the better HR and home office likes it.

Worked for 3 other Hem/Onc companies and this is the sorriest bunch of A**H***S ever!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I think those who post here are a vocal minority. I've been around 10+ years and while my job has changed so has the industry. Last time I looked my 6 figure salary was getting paid every month. This isn't exactly heavy lifting. I just tell my manager what she wants to hear and plat the game. This isn't Rocket Surgery.

Seriously, do you speak to any colleagues or are you another in-house mole looking for validation?
True there are many bitchers but this thread seems to express continued frustration with the direction our division/company/industry is headed. I for one hope this/they never go away. I prefer them over people who "play the game", "go along to get along" or are "just cashing a check". I want this place to be better for us and our customers, and you zombies allow corporate to just plod along, thinking either we are stupid or they are geniuses.

I for one, would like my chosen career to be challenging and rewarding. Apparently you have a job. I would like more.

AMEN! Unfortunately our culture has become one where we "give 'em what that want to hear" right, wrong or stupid.

You can add the following to this list,

Dialog coach, QTQ, Sales Force Excellence

Volante is not gone. He just got promoted. The only reorg is internal. No effect on the sales force. Yes this is only in Oncology.

Another cafe pharma troll that knows nothing. All business units have a call tomorrow with their respective VPs. Oncology/Hematology, Psych/Neuro, MM, Managed Markets. Change is definately in it way. Good luck to all......it all starts in home office and then expands to the low level rep/specialists. Just a matter of time.

The oncology side has 4 reps selling RAD and Zometa? Femara-gone. Sando-no need for 2 reps..............hem1/2 no need for both. I see a unification of oncology back to original 2004 levels with 3 reps/pod. HAHAHAHAHAHA....PODS. What a joke.

this seems correct...they usually do in-house layoffs first then move down to the rep/spec level.. clear out the overhead inside then move forward to the rep/specialist level once everything in-house is situated. So Nov 12th may be the correct date everyone is speculating.

They will make it look like Volante is getting promoted, just like Englehardt, but he will be in Japan before you know it. I am on the inside and he is getting pushed out and in a sorry ass job for his transition. Have fun in Japan like Englehardt!!
