Basically what happened was a value company just bought a premium company. Riddle me that?
And which value company was that?

When dentsply bought Astra/Atlantis, nobody with more than 90 days of dental experience thought Ankylos purchased Astra, did they? Same scenario here junior. Please go practice your douchebaggery elsewhere.
Ankylos was an ankle biter when they purchased Astra. Also, not even till now have they figured out their identity. But yeah, your point proves my point. Which is, with the hoopla of value companies looking to take over the world, when you sit back and look at the big picture, why would a value company want to purchase a premium player?
The obvious answer, the business plan of most value players might not be sustainable. They need the margins that the premium players provide. Sure, they can continue to hold their prices down, but that doesn't last long. Eventually, expenses catch up. If the strategy of value players were so strong, they would not look into making such big splurges.
To boot, look at the fact that's it's Danaher that made the move. They own ID, they made a pretty big investment in acquiring ID, if it was working out, they wouldn't have looked into Nobel (unless they are serious of the Tax Inversion tactic).
The premise of this post is flawed. Dentsply bought Astra. Danaher bought Nobel, not ID. Schein bought BioHorizons, not Camlog. The legacy company was bought by a conglomerate, not a value player.
Nobel has been hemorrhaging profits and customers for years. Nobody wanted to buy them- God only knows what Danaher will do with them. Do you seriously envision ID reps selling Nobel or vice versa? I don't. It will be interesting to see how this deal goes forward. Since Dentsply bought Astra, they have fallen off the map where I am. Is this what is in store for Nobel?
I'm not sure anyone of you guys get the investment portion of what went down. You all seem to know who bought who and what is the best way to support an overdunture.....but the Danaher purchase of Nobel is nothing more than an investment and they have a VERY clear past of what they do when they buy companies. The cut costs near immediately. Once the sale has executed, the Reps and Managers will be told that "nothing has changed" and that "we are stronger through synergy" Well...the second part may be right..the first is an outright lie.
If I were a Nobel Rep, I would seriously consider looking out for myself. Your resources are likely to shrivel. Doctors (the good ones) who are being supported will not wat to go through the next 18 months of transition and have already started to "file for divorce" for their marriage Nobel. The corporate lean mean fighting machine is coming to increase earning for their shareholders.
Hang tight..its a bumpy ride.
