You can sue for age discrimination. Your manager can start a PIP based on competency and nitpick you to death. Merck has more lawyers than you know and they can drag the case on and on until you pass from this earth. Or you may get lucky if they decide to settle.

Agree but need those years. A 55 year old without the years is no better off than a 25 year old.

Merkies had it good. I am from SP and if you had five years in with any one company, that was considered tenure. These Merck reps that have fifteen and twenty years and are in their fifties have it made!!! I think they should count themselves as very fortunate. I wil work until I'm seventy, which does not make me feel very good about life. The guy with a million bucks in pension - good or you just don't rub it in. Be grateful not arrogant.
 






Thread is off topic. The MVX said no layoffs until 2012. So, Whoopie! We have a whole nine months to wait. I swear they are just waiting for the WARN act to expire in order to save a few hundred thousand. This is not good. But not a surprise since most big drug companies are no longer profitable.

OK, I checked my MVX and had a follow up message from my manager to address Ken's video. Let's face it folks, as we all know these are very uncertain times. Management is being extremely careful to make no promises for very good reasons. Future cuts? No doubt. Who? Better cross your fingers if you hope to stay. Working in pharma in general, and pharma sales in particular is a huge crapshoot these days.

Have you figured out the "follow-up MVX message" is scripted and all managers have to send the same one out as Wave II after the video?
