No package for this lay off.

All the advice above is great food for thought. Another thing-never take this job seriously for more than it is, despite what the marketing team and leaders feed you. Your ability to meet (or not meet) your goals do not reflect who you are. It is a total crapshoot. Don't try too hard to move up the AZ ladder. You will know early on if you are one of the chosen ones to move on from promotion to promotion. If you are not part of that club, than come to terms with knowing you are stuck in current role.do what you are told and give them what they want. Act like you want to get that level IV/V, go thru LEAP, just to show a little motivation. Check those boxes to keep managers off of you. Then work your daily 10-2 and enjoy this high paying quality of life most people can only dream of.

You're absolutely right. There are worse jobs. And the majority of them pay much less and have fewer benefits. If you don't expect to get your life satisfaction from this job...it can be wonderful. This job allows me to provide for my family and even have a few perks along the way. I've made friendships in my offices that I cherish--they don't treat me badly at all. It's all in the way you look at it. I choose to be grateful for the life this job provides for me and the ones I love.

Most do not find this job rewarding, but do it because they have family responsibilities. You have to admit the money and benefits are great; hard to replace if you leave. Take it from someone who was laid off.

This industry was destroyed by the push to hire more women and promote them into management jobs where they were able to hire more clueless caterers. Most of them are second income where their easy money is spent on a bigger mcmansion in the burbs, a designer SUV in the garage and long weekends at the beach house.

Those office people hate your guts and forget about you once you are gone. They are not your “friends”. I bet you think you have a friendship with other reps.

Every territory has office staff that is courteous and nice to your face but trust me they are not your friends.
Most of them complain constantly about the number of reps that invade their space every day. If you think the are you friends, do they ever invite you over for dinner or ask you to their parties? Do they ever offer to do favors for you? That is what true friends do.

So true. Totally agree with this post! We are business acquaintances at best.

When I as a rep, I was invited to my largest target wedding along with my MSL. So yeah, it happens. I also am regularly contacted by a whale who has a daughter go to school close to where I live to hang out. He is in another district but I consider him a friend. Be the best at what you do, earn their respect and above all else don't BS them and friendship can follow.

One out of how many? If you took a poll of your offices, how many would say they look forward to having you in their office? How many would eliminate sales reps all together if they could? There is your true answer.

These are people you work with and for. Most don't like you but who cares. Frankly I don't like most of my reps in my district so what's the difference. It's a job and don't lose sight of that. I try and be respectful to the staff and doctors. I respect their time. Like the people you work with, once the job is over, you won't see most of them again. Nothing to lose sleep over. Also I am very well paid and the benefits are second to none. If you are looking for love them become an elementary school teacher. Just my thoughts

I absolutely LOVE this post! Very true. I work for the money and benefits, nothing more. All I really care about is my happiness and wellbeing. I keep a good relationship with my manager and customers, the only ones who matter day to day. All others, fellow reps, are nothing more than noisemakers.

Sorry, but I want more from my job than a paycheck and benefits. I don't want to spend most of my waking time doing something I hate at worse and tolerate at best. I am also tired of the constant threat of being laid off or targeted by some ambitious DM who wants to make a reputation by being tough.

Then you must LEAVE! Now! The previous poster gets it and is doing what’s best for her/him while employed at AZ. If you choose to stay here, then do yourself a favor by having the same mindset as the previous poster. It’s the only way that you’ll survive here. If you disagree, the exit door has your name on it.

I don't agree with the above but I understand. You have one choice but do you have the balls to do it? Quit and find more satisfying work.
Others who thought they didn’t have the balls to quit, grew a pair, and now enjoy a good life. Yes, folks, there is a better job, paycheck and benefits out there.

It certainly sounds like you want and need job satisfaction. If this is the case, a pharma sales job especially here at AZ won’t give you the satisfaction you need. I recommend a change of profession. Perhaps for your next job, aim to be a first-responder, a pastor or a teacher. Job satisfaction galore!

Well it is like this now and I have to find something else because this job is beyond dreadful.
It is bad enough to have to take abuse from the office staff, physicians and patients, but you would think that AZ and our managers would try to compensate by showing support. But even my manager is abusive.
How could anyone find this job rewarding and maintain any self esteem?

Pharma is now being run by clowns with MBA's with no experience or understanding "in the real world".Everything is black and white to them, and this once professional, fulfilling career is going down the tubes.Glad I experienced when I did,and got out before it sucked!

Love team players like you.Clowns like you are a big part of the big problem.Have you thrown any team members under the bus recently?

Team players? You seem to forget this is AZ. There are no true team players here. Everyone is a backstabber and will gladly throw one under the bus when given the chance. If you think your partner is on your team, you’re mighty delusional and sadly mistaken. No one cares about you here, especially your manager. Team player, my eye!

This is absolutely true. Anyone at AZ that pays you a compliment or tries to be your friend, is probably the most dangerous person in the room. The only people who advance here are political leches who understand the game, get you before someone gets them.
