No package for this lay off.

So in the resp ta, according to the number of reps listed for coe, we went from1240 reps at the end of Dec. to 961 end of Jan. A 23% reduction. Plus I’ve heard that for March it is down to about 850 or over 30% down from the end of last year. Won’t know for sure until see the report in June. Pretty good size reduction with no announcements or packages offered. They keep saying head count neutral.

The new AZ I guess.

Still not a bad gig being a caterer and signature chaser.

This is the trend with all big Pharma companies. This is how contracted professional layoff firms, like the one currently working with AZ, operate. They earn commissions by reducing the costs of massive layoffs and the best way is thru steady erosion. They call it, managing vacancies. In other words, forcing people out and not replacing them. They also use terms like, right sizing and head count neutral, but the end result is sales force reduction and reduced costs. They also are here to overcome any legal challenges by managing against discrimination liabilities which is why they will not use performance ratings as part of their layoff formula.

congratulations! We've progressed somewhat, as it's been a few days,or even weeks, since layoffs have been brought up. We all know chances are ,there WILL NOT be any layoffs in the near future. No mention, nada, irrespective of the division. That should end any and all speculation, especially those that love ❤️ to create a thread about layoffs. They always seem to start with the first of the month. So, watch closely, someone before long will create a new April 1, May 1, June 1 layoff thread.

On another note, you can kiss any severance package goodbye. Especially those that have a lot of tenure.

I'm not sure if your numbers are correct. However I am sure many people are leaving this company and industry for another career. Let's face it..the job is mind numbing. Spew a marketing message for ten seconds if you are lucky and that's a sales call? Hardly! Having some micromanaging DM ride with you twice a month offering ZERO help and advice? NO promotions from within the company to Oncology? Customers and the public hating our guts? No wonder so many leave!! Now I understand this is an easy gig...you play your cards right you will survive but to some it's just not worth the price.

I think you did not understand the post. Saying we are in the process of lay off conditions by cutting a third of our sales force in the 1st quarter. They are just not calling it a lay off. But to your point, I
don’t think we will ever have a “lay off” again. Just major reductions quietly accomplished.

I have been doing this for 26 months and know that I can't continue this job much longer. I hate Monday mornings so much that the dread of another brain cell killing week sets in on Sunday afternoon and spoils the rest of my weekend. How anyone could do this for 10+ years is beyond me.

It hasn't always been like this:(

Well it is like this now and I have to find something else because this job is beyond dreadful.
It is bad enough to have to take abuse from the office staff, physicians and patients, but you would think that AZ and our managers would try to compensate by showing support. But even my manager is abusive.
How could anyone find this job rewarding and maintain any self esteem?

Don’t let the door hit you in you ass on the way out! Never forget you can be replaced in a second. Many of you and a few of these jobs!

Well said!! I agree completely. If a person is not happy then for the love of God please quit!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Or do like the other smart people around here and learn another language or get your mba on the company dime to “unnumb” your mind silly!

This thread is the primary reason I always start recording, saving emails, etc. from day 1 of new hire training with every pharma job I have. I build a whistleblower case from jump so that when these nasty companies start this "you can be replaced" BS and treating employees horribly, I just send my evidence to my DC attorney or Beltsville, MD and walk away laughing. I have plenty of money and don't need a severance but two can play dirty games. You get what you give.

Place yourself in “auto pilot” for the job. Think of the thousands of Americans who work in factories installing the same damn part for 8-10 hours a day. And they do it until they retire. Their secret? Having a purpose outside of the job.

The choices: volunteer with things you care about or go home at night and drink beer until you sleep. Work is work and pays your bills. Live your best and meaningful life outside of work. Pharma is not bad at all as long as you can stop taking it all personally and simply look at it for the job that it is. Autopilot, do what you can then live for quitting time or the weekends.

I didn't borrow money to go to college in order to end up on an assembly line. But your analogy comparing this job to installing the same part in a factory isn't too far off. Anyone could do this job including the UPS person.

You're absolutely right. There are worse jobs. And the majority of them pay much less and have fewer benefits. If you don't expect to get your life satisfaction from this job...it can be wonderful. This job allows me to provide for my family and even have a few perks along the way. I've made friendships in my offices that I cherish--they don't treat me badly at all. It's all in the way you look at it. I choose to be grateful for the life this job provides for me and the ones I love.

Most do not find this job rewarding, but do it because they have family responsibilities. You have to admit the money and benefits are great; hard to replace if you leave. Take it from someone who was laid off.
