Is it true that the conference call yesterday was simply to offer furloughed reps the opportunity to be on a commission only contract for CV testing and based on how many tests one sells in the territory? Seems like a difficult way to make any money selling a CV test with limited insurance coverage to cardiologists who are difficult to no see physicians to begin with.

The contract is a three month pilot. The reps would get only $15 per calls. They expect each rep to decide which docs are the hot prospects and go for them. Each territory gets a list of 100 target docs with three month cap of 300 calls. The calls are expected to be a 15 minute intro to the office/dr, then a 1 to 2 hour in service with the staff to explain the process, and then a 3 to 4 hour call to assist them in the start up of using this product. The product is a genetic test- mouth swab. It can determine with high accuracy what meds will be the best and the worst for each patient. The nurse would most likely be the one to swab each patient. Once a doctor uses this test on twelve patients the rep gets a $500 bonus. All the reps on the call were asked to respond by Friday 4pm if they were interested. Contract not signed yet and don't know who the client is.

When was the conference call? I got an email but nothing about a call.

Conference Call was Thursday - only furloughed reps with no new products were contacted. Reps had to respond to America on Friday if interested. Poor compensation on the front end but ability to make good money if you can find docs that will use 12 tests. There has become several players in the genetic testing market in the last couple of years so not as easy sell as the call made it out. Also, reps would be dedicated on this contract so if a new contract happens to open in their territory in the three months a new rep would be hired. I wonder how many opted to sign on.

The above longer postings are true. There were 47 reps on the call. There are only spaces for 30 reps in this three month pilot. The customer wanted reps that had existing relationships with offices. Haven't heard anything since the conf call on Thursday. The contract is not signed yet and the reps on the call were not told of the client, just the product. If this goes through there will be thirty reps with 300 calls and 100 targets for the three months...that totals the 9,000 calls max the client would hire us for. $15 per call, bonus of $500 if a doc uses 12 tests. This was a call back of the furloughed reps on the flex team ERT.
