New Hire Package

So to all who are looking to land at Gilead. Have you thought about the security of your job where you currently are? Do you honestly think that if back in March, when 40,000 +/- pharma reps stopped going into the field, that with a flick of a switch, everyone would be going back out in the near future? Furthermore, do you honestly think pharma will ever be the same when and if the dust settles? We will not be welcome back into those practices that welcomed us previously. All new protocols will go into place to ensure patient and staff safety. You and I will be lucky to sit in their parking lot and speak to someone through an open window. Chances are good difficult access practices will shut you out but maybe once a a quarter or completely. Before you rush into a role here as a new hire and no tenure, think about your time and tenure where you are currently and whether you’d be eligible for some sort of package there? No one knows how this is going to play out. There is no safety net at Gilead

yes i am for real, and I work at gilead. the leadership for RA came from other divisions. one of the exec dir was moved out of national accounts because she was so obnoxious and rude to those beneath her. she was also a total idiot when it came to her understanding of managed markets. we are all surprised she is still here, but leadership knows she will kick reps into shape or get rid of them

access hasn’t been great for a while...maybe it does get a little worse. Good reps figure it out that’s why companies pay us big money. Bad reps struggle and eventually are exposed.

Bad reps don't work and are lazy because they live in fear.

As for big money. No. We don't make big money.

Finally, making "big money" is not a big deal, unless you can still live a simple life. Most people make more to spend more.

Big money all depends on what you consider big money. Living a simple life also depends on the definition of a simple life.

I've been at Gilead for 9 years. I'm not rich but I make right around 200k each of the last 3 years. My wife- at another company- does a little bit better. We have a million dollar house, country club membership, lake house and take vacations multiple times a year. Our 401k is completely maxed out from what the government allows (both our part and the company part). But yet I feel our life is simple. I also recognize that we are in the lower 1% of income producers in the USA so to many people we are rich. Rich to me is making at least a million a year.

You apparently are living well beyond your means with two incomes at 200k each. You are rich compared to the nurses, medical assistants and many MDs that you interact with. Having the shit you have is all about your status and your shallowness, that you need things to feel like you belong. You lose your job do to a Gilead lay-off and let’s see how those bills pile up b

Not really. What reality is if I get laid off here I get a severance and go get a job somewhere else probably getting a 10-15% raise. My numbers have been good here but I'll change a few top 3rd rankings to top 15% and so on. I have letters of recommendation from specialist around the country not just my area. I won't have a problem getting a job. What about you?

As far as feeling like I belong? No its called living the best life possible in the short time that we are on this earth. I've saved 10% of my salary per month since I graduated college so my slush fund is pretty good- I could go years without working if I wanted. But why do that- this is an easy job for those that know how to SELL- the majority of the company doesn't. As far as living beyond our means? Well we have a mortgage of 5500 a month, country club 1200 and the lake house we actually AirBnB when we aren't there but the mortgage yearly is 47k- last year we took in 77k in bookings. Maybe you need help managing your money because we are good. Cash is king...
