New CEO

I'm not as cynical as you guys. I think Mason will be a good replacement. He knows the industry and with his commercial plus ops and development experience can fix things and hold people accountable. As far as any of the older peeps coming back (EB, etc.) forget that, this place needs new next level leadership not those guys recycled. People say Brad did a good job on culture which Vaters killed. This company is fixable. The sales people have to get on board and not look to take shots from every angle, which this board seems to have an abundance of disgruntled reps. There is still a good living to be made, but now reps will have to sell and not live off residuals. One man's opinion.

And you are Wrongo! Mason made millions and went bankrupt like the guys on dumb and dumber. Was selling breadsticks in California. Hahahhahaaaaa
Take you optimism to a real company Pal. This thing is terminal!!

do all you donkey's realize that none of the successful distributors in Ofix or any company that gets blasted on this website for that matter, ever get on and say anything. That's because they are out working, and making a very nice living. Ofix is fixable. Most everyone I know that is currently 1099 at any level w Ofix is happy. Yes, some commissions have gone down but overall, if you had direct access as a master dist or to build your business w corp support, you would. The company is cash positive, RD is moving, well rounded portfolio of products, with MA opportunities in near future. All you suckers, keep sucking.

So what you're saying, since you got on here and posted and provided your wonderful heartfelt opinion, is that essentially, you are unsuccessful yourself. boo hoo. If you actually believe that second last sentence, you've had an overdose of the koolaid....

R and D is FUBAR straight up. NO new stimulators ( or data or studies) since Gorilla and it was pulled from FMR. Ortho is ex fix which is a dinosaur and people use plates and screws in 2013. BD department is a couple of morons who bankrupt Boston Scientific and bought Blackstone. Spine bag is me too and still says Blackstone on the trays. Only C and D distributors would carry this garbage and btw.. most companies worth anything are going direct so pipe down and go sell your old bag Mr. successful while you can. What a bunch of BS you wrote, stick to your 3 doctors who support your family through doing un needed surgeries. Build your business.... HAHAHA

Could NOT disagree more! The way that you fix a company that is this broken is to bring in people who know and understand it thoroughly. Look at Apple before Steve Jobs came back, or Starbuck's before Howard Schultz came back. Now before anyone goes off that I am comparing these companies with OFIX, I'm not. I am simply comparing the situations.
I will agree with you that it is fixable, but it needs the right repairmen.

Mason is no Jobs or Schultz!
Good logic though.. Although this isn't the case at OFIX.
Bad deal.

corporate opinion here. cheering throughout the cubicles when vaters email circulated. from the inside, we won't get better until they also remove vaters right hand man, vicente. that shouldnt take long as the man can barely string two sentences together. vicente hired and built large structures of waste within so a lot of unraveling to do. pete stratil, the puerto rican lean guy, the puerto rican hr person, the project management organization, phil koon, diana easton, a few other puerto ricans. should be easy for mason to spot the bullshit by looking at who vicente hired.

generally the mood is improved with vaters out but mason is still mostly an unknown. he was the guy responsible for that catshit culture of accountability. we were forced to waste huge amount of time handing out cards and telling "stories"

EB or FH coming back would be awesome. we also appreciated these two.

Decimated management, ineffective and generally lazy middle management, stepped-on sales reps, absence of product development, tainted by scandal me-too spine hardware, minimal market for ex-fix and pediatric specialty practically abandoned by management, absence of loyalty to employees and distributors, recalled innovation products never to return, criminal conduct and lack of ownership of it, zero product development, yeah sure ya got Galaxy whoop-de-doooo.

Orthofix is FUBAR. Acquisition or merger? Not likely, what would they be buying? A badly managed company in a death spiral. Trinity and divestiture of assets are probably the only things that kept this disgusting POS out of bankruptcy court. And there are a number of new improved products coming on-line that will eat Trinity's market share and the company has nothing left to sell except a pair of lipsticked pigs.

Stick a fork in it.

What a funny post. "Catshit culture of accountability" means people don't blame everyone else when things don't turn out like they expected. Sounds like you could use a heavy dose of that give all the finger pointing on this board. Mason is a huge step towards recovery for this company.

this is incorrect. internally, the culture resulted in people not doing their job. nobody was held accountable for anything. the culture promotes just "owning it". ie, someone doing someone elses task. sounded good on paper but what I saw was people busy doing other stuff and letting important work go undone just to earn their quota. the many worthless people became more worthless. the quotas for handing out nice nice cards and telling stories in meetings was a huge time sink. this program didnt help.

i do agree that mason returning is a good thing versus having vaters but still more changes needed and doing so without the stupid culture program might improve things a lot.

No he is not! He had his shot and the company sucked at the top of the Spine market. He failed at selling bread sticks and he will certainly fail three years later after burning through the millions he made selling Breg. The fact that the board went back in time indicates that no one else would have taken this job with a brain. Mark this post and let the stock be the judge. It's over bozo. Just Believe! LMAO

Spot on! The culture of accountability was embarrassing!
This company is going to go bankrupt. It's too late and too expensive to fix unless you start to diversify.. Perhaps they can start selling bread sticks to resurrect Mason's other failed business?
There is some hope... Just Believe!! Sad to be honest seeing a rudderless ship hit the rocks in slow motion.JMHO

Looks, it's clear Vaters' only talent was saying no to all headcount back fills and any increases in cost. The guy has no commercial experience. He was the king of cost cutting. The company was long overdue in getting rid of him and needed a new leader with product experience to run the business, that is not a financial person. A sales guy can learn about Finance, but a Finance guy can't learn sales. Long overdue change. Vaters is happy to leave and likely got himself a few million to leave. He played the company.

This company is fixable. It's profitable and has almost no debt. They need to get back to fundamentals; fix the R&D process and pipeline, back-fill the key open positions, fix OSI back orders, etc., make some targeted product acquisitions or licenses and clean out Vaters remaining cronies like Vincent Trelles.

Mason is a leader that can get this done. Think about it, if they did a long national search, that would have taken months, and the reign of Vaters would have continued, further hurting the company and the new person would likely not have had knowledge of the stim business and would have taken months for a new person to figure things out. Mason can hit the ground running and has the experience in sales, marketing, R&D and manufacturing. Vaters destroyed the culture, made it one of fear, intimidation and retaliation. Someone on the inside said that employees were cheering and high-fiving each other when the announcemnt of Vaters leaving went out. The previous incarnation of the Culture of Accountability was a bit off the deep end as said above, but Mason's gotta do something to get people re-engaged, which includes those of us in the sales force. Instead of us looking for reasons to say Mason will fail, let's give him a chance to be successful first.

It's one thing to be a cheerleader. It's another to take on leadership of a stinking criminal corrupt cesspool of a company that's on a clearly terminal skid and attempt to turn it around. Most of the good guys plus a few disfunctional r*****s have left. The new management is going to ask the remaining few good guys to stick around and eat some shit for a year or two until they get the course righted and start giving back to the people. There's no trust left. Anybody who hangs in waiting for the good old days to return is a sucker. Stick a fork in it.
