Neuromodulation opening

If you move ahead, I would ask to meet the TM and CS for lunch to get a feel for the working environment you would be signing up for. If they're cool, then that makes the job much more palatable.

WOW!!!!! 2 million dollar territory...let me guess the current rep is getting a promo...same shit we all heard. the reps numbers are dropping and he/she is tired...run...unless you like talking to crackheads all day for $120,000 and unrealistic quotas. Think about it for one second...why would anyone leave a 2 million dollar territory? Would you? NO!!!

I just received a call today for a neuro modulation position in Virginia. The recruiter said exactly "old rep, numbers are dropping and he is tired." That is why I was told the position was open. Apparently this must be a line used a lot? My current device company at JnJ is falling apart...lay offs, co-promotes, no new technology...you know...the usual. I had heard SJM had a good reputation. Based on the feedback from this message board it sounds like I'd be moving from bad to worse. Anyone think this division at SJM is actually good to work for? Is there any room for growth, to make money, or promotion?

It's not just the Virginia rep that's tired! Everyone that works here is tired! No new products for at least a couple of years, managers that are incompetent, division VP's that play kiss ass or cya... And the vp of sales, a complete idiot. And the therapy,,, I rcvd advice a long time ago from my friendly Mdt rep who said, "this shit doesn't work, make as much money as you can"! Get a job selling boobs! The price is dropping like bricks, as will the reimbursement!

In general, this biz has hit the wall. Tough enough as it is without having to deal with weak management. Wouldn't make a move unless there were changes made with leadership

Who is at the top these days running sales? I left right after dougan stepped down and hanchin came in

Run. Stay far away. I wish someone would have given me this advice. This is the worst job I have ever had in over 15 years of sales. The hiring mgr lied about almost everything-income, territory, car allowance, job description, etc...

This is probably the worst job in medical device with the worst corporate culture I have ever witnessed.

Was called by a recruiter for a neuromodulation sales job. It appears to be very cool and interesting type of technology and sale. Would really appreciate any insight on the questions below-

-Average income/top performer income
-New product pipeline
-Culture
-Turnover
-Competition (medtronic, stryker or boston sci?)
-Anything else you are willing to share

Almost went on this interview 5 months ago...

I remember it was 80% travel, youre called where you are needed allover the country. There was no defined territory, you could be in La for a week or NYC for a month, Miami the following 3 weeks etc... base 70k, total comp around 110k with all the specs. competition MDT, but overall SJM culture is all senile old people finally getting pushed out of their territories by health problems LOL

. . . but overall SJM culture is all senile old people finally getting pushed out of their territories by health problems LOL

The old people who knew what they were doing have all gone.

Now populated with the young, stupid, and greedy who think they're smarter than management only to find themselves out in the cold soon too.

120K? Crap money. You can work in biotech or pharma one day a week for the same money and start a business on the side. Bye SJ, keep your opportunity

You are confused with your terminology. Are you referring to a Territory Manager I or a Clinical Specialist? A TM I is basically the senior TM's bitch. Don't expect to be supported by the senior TM because if you are successful, then you either outshine them or are a threat to chip away at their territory and $$ when you are given your own piece of the pie.
A clinical specialist supports the territory by covering cases and handling patients while the TM's get out and sell. Well, in theory that's how it's supposed to be. Very few TM's can sell and try to hide this flaw by complaining that they have no time to get new business because they are too busy with cases and patients. They notoriously mismanage the territory and how the RSD's/AVP's don't see through this is beyond me.
So the answer to your question is no, the TM 1 and CS does not "hinder" you. Everyone on the team gets paid to reach quota; good luck trying to make your number without them. But if your first thought is to ask if your team "hinders" you then you are best left to a job where you work alone. Where you have no one to blame but yourself.

For what it's worth, people are NOT being overly dramatic either. Horrible culture under the leadership of imbecile's. It is an absolute shame what has become of this place. All the fun ended about 2008.

Its pretty clear that the product here is wonderful. Its a shame that the work culture is tainted by sales leadership that is in over its head. And yes, i would agree, that all changed around 2008-9.
