I posted for a position in Pa for the Neurology division. I know that Biogen Idec had some cuts recently. Did it effect these jobs? The jobs are still posted on Biogen's website? Would appreciate some honest comments/news. Thanks.

OP here - yes? does this mean the jobs will not be filled/filled by a displaced rep?? Are they moving forward with interviewing? Wasn't sure which press release you were talking about.

Biogen laid off two sales forces, RA and ONC. Neuro was not affected. However, I have heard that some jobs that are posted are not being filled in case an RA or ONC rep is interested. Then the neuro positions will be filled. The hiring mgr in PA is great by the way! Good guy to work for.

How about the So Cal opening and mgr?

Best manager I ever had. Totally hands off and lets you be you and supports you with the resources you need to be successful. If you are not successful, then don't blame anyone else but yourself. No longer with Biogen, but he was the ONLY reason I considered staying with the company after new senior management went all big pharma. TP is a great guy to work for period.....................

OP here...did they ever decide what to do abt this posting? I see it is still on your website. Was downsized earlier this yr and would really like to stay within pharma based on the contacts Ive established....any word??

Most of the open positions are being filled by RA/ONC ABM's that were let go during the recent downsizing[/QUOT

Open positions were held open for the downsized to "interview" for them, same as an outsider. However, few if any even interviewed, much less took the neuro ABM job. There was a deadline to accept interview and it's long past so opportunities are wide open.

The 2 postings you are referring to are still open, however, they are in the final rounds of interviewing for these spots. Should be hired by end of next week. All were referrals from current Biogen reps.

Sorry, but you almost always need to know someone to get into Biogen.

What happened to the sepracor guy in Pa did he get fired?

he's the RD for NJ and still here. That guy is a complete TOOL. Don't bother even posting for a job in his region, unless your from Sepracor, you won't get hired. Last 3 of 4 hires were from Sepracor. You know cause they are known for their MS/neuro expertise---NOT! Wake up upper mgmt!

I worked for BIIB for several years and saw it through some great times. Sadly the company is going in the wrong direction and the reason for most of the openings is that people are leaving because like myself, the company has changed and not for the better. The drugs and the potential of the pipeline are outstanding, regardless of the risk everyone loves to hammer on. It's just so unfortunate upper management did not have the forsight to listen to an extremely talented salesforce and is now looking at PDI reps to sell extremely technical and important therapies. I am so sad to see the path the company has gone and can only hope that the old Biogen will someday return. Best of luck to all of you that are still there or will be joining the team!
