MNK Management: You ought to be ashamed

MT, HO, SC, you ought to be ashamed to show your face in public. Sure YOU'LL be ok with your golden parachutes. The stockholders will be fine too, after the M&A.

But what about your rank and file? What about the people who got you through the Exalgo and Pennsaid launches and made you million$? They are people, too. These are human beings, with families, mortgages, living expenses, education expenses--and feelings! What about them?

But you don't care about any of that.

I'm sure you're well lawyered up. I'm sure your lawyers have figured out how to get around WARN. I'm sure you have had them figure out how to get around the two-weeks-of-severance-for-every-year-of-service that's in the employee handbook. I'm sure that's why you blindsided everyone with this "layoff"--48 hours to make a decision. Maybe they wouldn't have time to notice that little detail.

What about YOU taking some responsibility for some of the failures of this launch? What about YOU taking some responsibility for the waffling, the target changes, the lack of direction, the lack of stocking, the bad MC coverage, etc, etc, etc.

It's time for you to put on your big-boy and big-girl pants and OWN some of this; time to do right by your people.

I don't work for Mallinckrodt, but I'm pretty close to someone who does. I know the details.

I hope your current and former employees lawyer up well, too, and burn your collective asses!

Thank you. Well said. HO and SC don't care about the past in this company.

It's what did you for me this week? And I get it. I underperformed with XXR. But with the underperformance from MNK, I should have been given longer than 3 months to get this turd off of the ground.

This turd will never get off the ground ever! That's the real truth! It's one of the turdiest me-toos to ever hit the market. First time in my career that docs say to my face in disgust that they would never prescribe a drug like this because there is no need for it. MNK needs to own up to it and not take it out on the sales team.

Hummmm.....2 weeks severance for every year worked and stated in the handbook. Must be the Covidien handbook as I don't recall one specifically for Mallinckrodt, although I could be mistaken. If that's the case, lawyer up one and all. Big believer in Karma.

Lol, yeah. Whatever tough guy, shut up and grab those ankles and keep the stupid quotes to yourself. It doesn't make this better. One and all, lol!

Being that it was performance based, I don't think that 2 wks per year served is applicable.

They could have just PIPed everyone and fired us in 4 wks when August number came in.

But how does MNK reconcile the fact that we have been at this for less than 5 months. They didn't do that with Exalgo. That was a dog in the beginning, too. Five months is not long enough to really get the ball rolling, unless you're admitting failure as a company and pulling the plug.

I believe that, by pulling the plug on XXR so soon, they are admitting their own failures--targeting, marketing materials, MC coverage, pharmacy stocking, sales force expansion when it wasn't necessary, market research, etc.

Most doctors, when asked, say XXR is a piece of crap, and not needed by the market. Who made up the focus groups that said this was a great drug? Oh yeah, I forgot, Mallinckrodt paid them for their opinions. What the hell do you think they are going to say about your baby, when you're paying them for their opinions?!!!

You, of course, are 100% right. I think they did use old, broken down pain docs looking for a quick buck.

Yes, a "performance" layoff like this so soon is sketchy. They wanted rid of legacy reps, and they still could have gone the straight PIP and fire route.

I want to fight this to get more severance, but I'm not sure what I can do.

Stop complaining and do something constructive. After all, Nuvo Research, thru their lawyers Mandel Bandari, are already suing MNK on multiple claims including failure to use diligent efforts to launch and market Pennsaid 2%....has this impacted YOU!

Yeah, I get it. The lawsuit claim is not against underperforming reps it is against MNK gross failures, that's what is going to trial. Management can put that in their pipes and smoke it! Anyone have a Pennsaid 2% launch story to share?

You can fight, but if you look through the paperwork, they have themselves covered nine ways to Sunday. Good luck.

I'm not sure about that since the target number of 20 was determined the day the PIPs started (last Tuesday). This was not very well thought out and as a result I think a lawsuit is feasible. They say performance, but did anyone receive any notice that their performance was lacking prior to the PIP/separation?

Inventiv thinks this company is such a mess that they knew that they couldn't just issue PIPs out of the blue and refused to do it. I bet they won't renew their contract.

What ought to happen is the stockholders should force these idiots to pay back what ever bonus they "earned" back to the company and employees.
All the money they wasted on a horrible launch should be paid bak to the company and given to all the reps who are being let go as severance.
