MT, HO, SC, you ought to be ashamed to show your face in public. Sure YOU'LL be ok with your golden parachutes. The stockholders will be fine too, after the M&A.
But what about your rank and file? What about the people who got you through the Exalgo and Pennsaid launches and made you million$? They are people, too. These are human beings, with families, mortgages, living expenses, education expenses--and feelings! What about them?
But you don't care about any of that.
I'm sure you're well lawyered up. I'm sure your lawyers have figured out how to get around WARN. I'm sure you have had them figure out how to get around the two-weeks-of-severance-for-every-year-of-service that's in the employee handbook. I'm sure that's why you blindsided everyone with this "layoff"--48 hours to make a decision. Maybe they wouldn't have time to notice that little detail.
What about YOU taking some responsibility for some of the failures of this launch? What about YOU taking some responsibility for the waffling, the target changes, the lack of direction, the lack of stocking, the bad MC coverage, etc, etc, etc.
It's time for you to put on your big-boy and big-girl pants and OWN some of this; time to do right by your people.
I don't work for Mallinckrodt, but I'm pretty close to someone who does. I know the details.
I hope your current and former employees lawyer up well, too, and burn your collective asses!
