I'm looking to get an opinion on a recent urologist visit I had. I strongly believe that the doctor was inappropriate with me, but it would make me feel a lot better if someone in the urology world could confidently confirm for me the likelihood/unlikelihood that the doctor's actions were a part of the examination.
I got the appointment because I have been peeing very slowly and very frequently for about a year now (though the volume of urine is no less than it used to be, so my body is essentially overproducing urine). I also have what feels like kidney pains when I get the urge to pee. The PCP sent me for an ultrasound, which showed a slightly enlarged prostate and slightly distended bladder. Nothing that caused the doctor much worry. Nevertheless, the ultrasound prompted the urology exam.
Early on in the exam, the urologist told me to drop my pants and lay down. I didn't expect there would be any reason for that, but I guess checking out the general area could make sense depending on what he's looking for. Without explaining what he would do, the urologist proceeded to lift my testicles and feel around/press underneath. A warning of "I'm going to touch your genitals now" would've been appreciated. Perhaps even an explanation of what he was looking for could've helped prepare me, but that could just be chalked up to poor bedside manner.
He pressed my abdomen above my penis. Then he cupped my testicles and spent a long time feeling them out (I assume checking for tumors?). Then he began squeezing and rubbing my penis. I'm used to short palpitations in examinations (30 seconds or so total), but the part of the examination described above in this paragraph went on for about 2 and half minutes. He really took his time.
He then pulled my foreskin down and began rubbing the head of my penis. At one stage, he rubbed a single spot with his thumb for a full minute and a half, and never explained why, never said that anything seemed off or required an extended hands-on examination. When a normal person gets touched inappropriately, even for 5 seconds, it can stick with a person. So I just want to make sure that anyone who reads this understands just how painfully long 1.5 minutes is when your penis is being rubbed without explanation. I VERY much got the feeling that he was trying to get me erect. He did not notify me of finding/feeling anything out of the ordinary.
Before I left, he said he'd send me to have a camera sent through my urethra into my bladder for some imaging. I said okay. Then he said he could order to have my urethra widened while I was there. I told him I'd rather wait to see what they find before I start doing anything drastic (he was not even sure what the problem was, nor did he say I had a narrow urethra). He got mad and aggressive with me about my reluctance to do it, and when the appointment ended, I left.
My question is, would there be any medical reason for palpating one single spot on the head of my penis for 1.5 minutes? Ie. What can you learn in 1.5 minutes that you can't learn in 5-10 seconds?
I'm not trying to challenge or offend any urologists out there, I'm just extremely traumatized by this, and I'm kind of scared of this man.
