DSO or not, how is this not plain old age discrimination? Additionally, while there are so many protections for German colleagues, it is just so easy to lay people off in the US. Disgusting.
Except for the managers. Way over their heads trying to break from traditional manager roles. Most of them have never known anything else but big pharma, ass kissing, and who you know not what you know or what you have accomplished. Most of them are kissing their VPs ass still and telling them anything they want to hear, and still believe that works to drive business. The definition of fake it till you make it. I think old Bill Andersons got a little surprise for them eventually. Eliminate at least 1/2 and you'll be saving some $$$ and clearing out fat.Good reps always manage themselves anyway. What Bayer has tried to do is really push accountability down to the representative level with the business Director, having oversight and the ability to pull levers to help drive the business. The bottom line is, you cant fake it til you make it, you gotta just make it.
It has been eye-opening to see that a managers role in Pharma is really unnecessary in today’s market. Other than to just babysit the adult children on their team, there is no reason for half the stuff they did previously. Now, the only thing missing from a manager today is people are acting badly at the customer level and there’s no one to hold them accountable which is making squads miserable and Hunger Game-like.So what does a manager do. The accounting department can approve the expense report

Yes it’s true. Why don’t you care?

Ah, you seem to be stuck in a hierarchy mindset!Spoken like a life long Rep. probably never had the skills, drive or desire to move up in an organization. Always blames others for their failures. You have a pretty easy job that provides you good compensation, little stress and an open calendar. Enjoy it!!!

Next round of cuts will swing back to the sales side of things late September thru October this year. Get your resumes in order and keep looking out for opportunities outside of Bayer. The axe coming down this time will be for the non-management sales folks. Performance will have little to do with who makes it and who doesn’t. The word “optimization” will be a familiar one. Good luck.
