You are wrong. The lay off before EOY because if they tick over to Jan 1, your bonus payment comes out of your departments budget. If they lay you off before Dec 31, that $$ comes out of a discretionary pool of funds set up

You were let go in early dec so you manager could protect their budget. Nothing to do with WARN or any legal bullshit theory
