Merck Research

We've literally closed our corporate HQ and eliminated over half of our employees. We are essentially down to one Primary Care drug and one Oncology drug. The Primary Care drug is nearing patent expiry. We stumbled into the Oncology drug. It's been game over at Merck for many, many years.

Still about 60,000 employees left to layoff before we achieve peak profitability. KEYTRUDA IS LIFE

MRL has been a mess for years. Was it Peter Kim who destroyed the culture and drove a lot of people away and now it’s very very difficult to return to a high performing lab because of his bad decisions? How did MRL fall so far from grace?

It pretty much died when Vagelos retired...Merck as an excellent company was basically over
at that point...

MRL is sad...Merck is sad...

FU MERCK!

Zepatier is turning out to be a Turd
Flush all MRL management down the bowl and do a reset.

Wrong. MRL RY, WP discovered several compounds on the market today. The problem was that R&D leaders decided they could outsource the work and laid off too many scientists and destroyed the golden goose. It's true Merck lucked into Keytruda and didn't know what they were getting at the time of the merger.
Without strong Research division, the entire company will have problems. No one on the outside will know though because Keytruda's success will mask the disfunction going on inside the labs. Sad for the good ones remaining.

Be patient, while there are no clinical candidates in the pipeline from Boston, they contribute intellectually to MRL with basic research to understand disease. In a few years, the San Francisco site will be providing similar benefit.
Rock on Boston!!!

Surely Boston will deliver a drug any day now!
