I am a PA in an internal medicine office. I recently had a discussion with my Xanodyne representative that concerns me.
I have written several Zipsor prescriptions over the past six months. My writing for Zipsor has steadily increased as a result of an abundance of samples and good reports of tolerability from my patients.
My last few prescriptions, including one refill, have resulted in complaints of ineffective pain relief. When discussing these results with my rep, she offered some disturbing possible explanations. She told me that Zipsor is can be degraded by light exposure and heat. What really upset me was that I could not find these issues addressed in either the product insert or your website. Furthermore, she told me that her manager instructed her not proactively address these attributes. She also stated that she was told some time ago that reps would be receiving coolers to transport samples, but that this idea seems to have passed. Meanwhile, we are in the middle of the summer's first heatwave.
Until I receive more information from the company or an FDA letter, I will no longer be writing Zipsor prescriptions. I find the fact that your company tries to hide this valuable information to be suspicious and unethical. This behavior gives a black eye to your company and its products.
