Mass exodus

I heard HQ is surprised and upset about how many are leaving the OBU...just shows you how out of touch and disconnected they are!
I think it shows their huge lack of respect for us, their misunderstanding of loyalty and it working both ways, and their beliefs that we are not as smart or passionate about our careers. They believe themselves to be superior to each of us.
They put our goals at numbers that were impossible in most territories due to declining doctor counts and crashing overall dry Eye marketplace. They felt they could put their inability to forcast this marketplace on our shoulders. They not only don’t understand the dry eye arena, they miscalculated the patient’s acceptance of side effects and response to programs like Eye love and ask Iiris., the offices passion for added paperwork with PAs and enrollments in programs clearly marketed to benefit shire not them. They certainly failed to understand the managed care competition against Allergan and how lack of coverage or lack of tier 2 coverage equates to lack of scripts.
Did they really think we would go a year without making target bonus holding hands and singing We Are the World? Many of us went from $50k in one quarter to less $50 for the year with no signs of a turn around. No signs of other drugs.
So it’s Goodbye Yellowbrick Road as many of us are doing an Elton and running our farewell lap.
I lost my passion. Every single rep I know has too.

Marketing here. Then quit or shut that piehole. You rep slackers are running out of excuses. Now get the fuck to work and understand there’s billions to be made in dry eye market. Your target bonus wasn’t met. Stop kidding yourself You sales reps SUCK! We do everything to help you and you choke.

Oh, you’re funny. There are what, three marketing people? This is the problem, thinking someone else is responsible for your inability to understand the marketplace. We understand it and know this drug is going nowhere. Jump on a few blogs or a dry eye forum or two. Check out FB technicians pages or dry eye pages to see what patients say about Xiidra. We get the scripts. Patients don’t get refills. That’s not due to sales, that’s poor marketing and expectations, bad side effects, poor efficacy, terrible managed care coverage and high pricing. On Medicare and uncovered plans it costs $450. No one is paying that. I wouldnt. On covered commercial it’s $10. If patients won’t stay on a $10 month drug that’s because it does not work. No amount of Ask Iiris calls or Pillpack pushing is going to change that. The drop out rate is TELLING and Shire doesn’t get it.
If sales believed in the drug or even in this company we wouldn’t be leaving.

Great, enjoy selling at Kala or Eyepoint. Wish you the best. Maybe you can be the VP of sales, your post proves how insightful you are.
Great reps take those challenges and breakdown barriers and drive sales. Entitled eye care reps like you complain about resources, coupons etc for missing the mark. If it was easy, they could get a migrant down in Tijuana to do your job. That’s why you have 3 figure salary.
Pharma needs to stop valuing relationships and tenure because with that, comes lack of adaptability, work ethic and entitlement. Your post is the prime example buttercup. Allergan took a shitty product w 1/10 of the attributes of Xiidra and made it a best seller. You couldn’t sell Botox to Jennifer Anniston shitbag.

Allergan made restasis a blockbuster bc
1. It was the ONLY option on the market at the time, other tab keeping patients on a steroid.
2. Their managed care team actually works and delivered converage
3. They built relationships
4. Did I Mention they have coverage?

Before you call me a loser, I have over 50% share in my territory and won p club

2&4 !! Its easy to sell a drug on medicaid and commercial with no coverage. Thats why when you look at growth thats where it all is. To sell a drug with 0 yes that Z-E-R-O pt D coverage is not a simple task. Most are paying over 200.00 for a drug that offers a quicker onset over the competitor that costs 20-30.00. Theres a reason corporate fleet give out chevys and not mercedes and it has nothing to do with performance.

Good job calling yourself out. Hows the weather in Texas?

Worst predictor of performance is market share. Congrats you have 70% commercial coverage in a small Restasis market which accounts for 1/10 of the DED market. This isn’t KK is it?

I always love these posts by small little people filled with jealousy because they could never get as much as a phone interview as a sales rep. Go make your boss a pot of coffee and collect your sweet little paycheck that can’t rival one of our bonus checks.
It’s okay honey. You didn’t get to meet Jenn either. And yes, she does use Botox.

Okay marketing. What have you done to help us? Maybe we are missing something.

I did meet Jennifer, it was a great event, hence my analogy. I just happen to work with experienced eye care reps who are spoiled babies. Most can’t sell or handle any adversity.

I’ve been with multiple companies. I can confidently say that Shire has the worse sales ops (IC, forecasting, IT help, communication, fleet) and managed care teams that I have ever witnessed. Senior leadership is incompetent but these groups are worse!

I agree with above. I do think we have some good senior leadership but just the way Shire does things are inefficient with no accountability. Honestly you live and learn. The grass isnt always greener on the other side as we continue to search for that great place to work. I cant see SUN, KALA without having their own issues at the point they are at right now. Things would be more tolerable here if we had better goals so people can be recognized for the work and effort being put in every day. I think there are variations in markets across the country and we should be sophisticated enough to set predictions and expectations for each area. For us who are staying lets hope this is done in 2019 You cant blame John, Mike for this This is a Perry and Flem issue. Make these goals "just commercial" because they obviously were not in 2018.

Typical. Of course there’s no response. Can whine and cry all day about spoiled evil sales reps who can’t do anything and the fabulous marketing department does everything but sales flops. But can’t come up with anything they did that was worthwhile. Not one thing.
Oh! But a previous marketing person though Jenn would be a good fit. She’s done SOOO much for Xiidra! Whew! We probably wouldn’t even have FDA approval without her!
Yep. Crickets chirping in the background, but no comments.

I wouldn’t call senior leadership “incompetent”. I would say “disconnected” or “disengaged” is more accurate. They def don’t seem interested in dry eye; thus the sales force isn’t either and we are all looking to leave!
