Managers: The good, the bad, and the ugly?

I've been fortunate to have some good managers. I know others that have had problems though. I'm not really sure I know what their role is anyway? I have been in my territory for years and have been in sales for eternity. There really isn't much they can offer me personally but as long as they don't act stupid in front of my accounts and mess things up, I'm fine with it

I agree 100%. Have you ever noticed that the good managers that have been in a manager role for a while give their reps a lot of independence? It's not because they are lazy dsm's; they just know that tenured reps know how to take care of business. I have some accounts that have told me to not bring my manager into the hospital. It's nothing I did but from a previous manager years ago. Unfortunately it affects me now. I'm lucky that my manager currently is experienced and doesn't force the issue. He gets it. There is. I reason an extra person should be in the or anyway. Always remember that we are guests and we need to act responsibly
