Managers as friends in the OBU

It can work out favorably like is LSD. If you and your new ZD have been close friends for many years( prior to them becoming a ZD and working for Shire) . You find yourself getting an undeserved promotion- especially before RBMs that have actually EARNED it.

The only problem is that they don't think anyone is paying attention . Just because no one says anything doesn't mean it's not noted. You may get by for now, but you won't get away.

Unbeknownst to him, he's quickly digging a ditch for himself.

I can tell you exactly why the OBU is in decline. The managers, or buisiness directors as they call themselves, are trying too hard to be friends with all their reps instead of being coaches and MANAGERS! I am a rep and I have never seen someone try as hard as my boss does to be my friend. I even told her I would like some "feedback" on my performance but she just can't coach. Now in her defense she took a number of years off to be a stay at home mom, which is admirable, but did you lose all your guts in the meantime. Our team is doing good relative to the rest of the OBU but come on VH (the ZD) help us out by coaching her. I'm sick of work field rides taken up by personal stories and fluff when I need help performing even better. Some may say to just be quiet, we're doing well...but imagine how well we'd be doing if our manager cared more about coaching us than she does about being our friend? It is possible to do both but now it's very o e sided.

This was written by a micro manager nobody likes. This person’s reps have called them out for being a tyrant and comparing their behavior to other managers. This person knows nothing more than being an asshole and this person’s peers have called them out as well.

Lets just be honest, some mangers get it and realize that they should not manage by intimidation and threats of a PIP. Some managers have to rip you down In Order to bring themselves up. Some managers should never be managers, but they kissed enough ass to become one. What can we do, nothin. Personally I don't care for my manager and currently looking for another job. Between my mgr and what our stock is doing and how things are run here trying to get ahead of the next round of layoffs, oops I mean performance firings.

Smart move. Shire has absolutely nothing over any other company out there. What does Shire offer that other companies don't offer? Nothing positive.

Nothing positive. That's why I don't think the culture will ever change here. They asked for our onions but they'll never take the advice. The culture will NEVER EVER CHANGE as long as Perry is here. EVERYTHING changed for the worse when he showed up. Meetings used to be fun, there used to be free time. Now
just look at the jam packed, completely boring nsm schedule.
Lame general sessions for hours, breakouts with the same boring and tired doc panel, escape room detail....seriously!? About the only thing I'm looking forward to is the fireside chat. These meetings are ridiculous, we are still treated like children with little to no respect.
