Mallinckrodt Xartemis XR Launch Delayed by FDA

Ok, so I just talked to my recruiter and she said that they are still waiting to hear about offers from Mallinckrodt. She also said that they are still interviewing for other open positions too (but told me not my territory.) I asked about the Dec. 9th start date and she said the people that they are interviewing next week might start on the 16th? I know, that makes no sense. They won't have some people start on the 9th and some on the 16th, so I don't even think the inVentiv people know whats going on for sure.

Here's a New York Times article about it: http://markets.on.nytimes.com/resea...RX____BW5348&feedID=600&press_symbol=58839194

It states: "The three-month extension from the FDA is in response to additional data submitted by Mallinckrodt. Mallinckrodt and the FDA have begun and will continue discussions regarding labeling as part of the application review throughout this period."

Basically, it's just a labeling issue.

So apparently, the company isn't too concerned about the delay. Otherwise they wouldn't drop all this cash to bring on the contract reps.

Right. I think the delay just has to do with tweeking the indication, but I don't know for sure. They've invested a heck of a lot of money in the hiring process and they realigned the Mallinckrodt reps territories. Exalgo generic didn"t pan out, so they still need reps to sell that and Pennsaid.

hate to announce but no drug no sales force hired. it happened with prior contract: impax, actavis, now mallinckrodt

You don't know what you're talking about. My recruiter told me Friday that they are still interviewing for some of the remaining positions next week. They restructured their entire sales force and they still need reps to sell Exalgo and Pennsaid.

i am hired. filled out all the paperwork, including signing the offer letter and peed in the cup.
have not hard about any delay... and they have had time to do so. I imagine the launch will be delayed but training will go forward.

I am person said no approval no sales force. Ventiv interviewed other contracts and products did not get approval therefore no one hired. I went on to interview with diabetes opportunity and got hired and could not be happier. Sorry no product and no approval no reason to hire anyone. Do not put all eggs one basket.

Mallinckrodt contract could have been written (didn't everybody get a copy?) and signed with sunk cost of sales force being in place whether or not product approved..so you get hired, kick around a few old products for a bit, while everyone hopes for approval..if approved great , if more delayed then it is back on the streets.

Is anyone, who currently has a job, still going to accept the offer without product approval?
What if it doesn't get approved?

I'm leaving my current job for this. MNK did a complete territory realign; so, it's not like the contract reps will overlap onto current territories...it's still one rep per area. They need the bodies now to cover the new areas created by the restructure. Whether it's a good decision on my part or not, I'm taking the risk.

I too am leaving my job. I hope I made a good risk. I am direct hire now but company layoffs happen just about annually now and I'm ready for a change and something different. Good luck to all and God bless
