I was recently offered a position in GI specialty. The offer came in at $91,000. I laughed and said “no thanks.” This is really low for a specialty sales role. I challenged the hiring manager on it. He countered saying the bonus potential made up for the low salary. I asked him what percentage of the field force beat the payout target. He avoided the question. What does a typical GI rep “actually” make at Salix? Other companies in the space are paying over $160,000 in base with comparable bonus and stock plans. And yes, I’m interviewing with them too.
