Let the company go first in making an offer, there is a 'range'. If you make first move it will be either A) below what they were willing to offer you B) too high -maybe you won't be happy here with low salary...

Depends where you are and what your experience is. If you have no pharma experience and are in Mississippi $45K would be reasonable. If you have 15 years experience and are in California, $100K would be reasonable.

That's the AZ way. A few years ago they sent people to training only to lay them off before they even hit the field.

Yes. I was one of those affected and to be exact it was 4 days before training after most of us had given notice to our previous employers. Just protect yourself and search for a job in another industry!

If the position is in the cardiovascular field it is all or nothing for AstraZeneca at this point, so if hired you may have a spot, at least for now. But beware, the pressures and micromanagement will be extraordinary. AZ has been slicing reps like a hot knife through butter. The major competition is now a highly used and respected generic.

If the job is in another therapeutic area you will want to be very cautious. AZ is developing the reputation as having the worst pipeline in the industry and yet all of its eggs are in one basket, Pharma along with (it is hoped) biopharmacy. Present and future cuts are imminent.

We are downsizing to remain viable but some folks dont read well. We are cutting 880 jobs in sales and administrative positions between now and 2016 with bulk of sales cuts in Europe due to new regs.

Where are you getting the 880 number? I have not seen that mentioned in any article. How about a link?

Wrong, not one internal e mail has mentioned that number. Every article online states 2300. Most of those cuts will be in Europe.

I work for AZ in the US and have not seen anything except the 2300 number mentioned.
