Lilly sued by EEOC

yeah and I hear that age discrimination and male discrimination is rearing its ugly head with the candidate selection and offers going out for the Zepbound sales force. It’s really embarrassing that this stuff is still going on.
So what is your definition of a good candidate?? White male in his 40’s or 50’s? If no one has shared….. good candidates come in all shades or color and ages. White ain’t always right…

Got an email stating I'm part of the settlement class. I'll probably get a check for a few hundred dollars. I wasn't unhappy when I was told I wasn't selected for the position as the hiring mgr seemed to be uptight and not very friendly. I ended up getting a much better job selling an MS drug (which is what I wanted). This will be the third lawsuit payout I've received during my time in pharma (the biggest by far was an overtime settlement from Novartis).

  • In the case Equal Employment Opportunity Commission v. Astra USA, the court held that Title VII of the Civil Rights Act prevents employers from interfering with the EEOC’s ability to investigate charges of discrimination and that any agreement which prohibits or interferes with an employee’s communication with the EEOC is void as a matter of public policy. In short, a contract does not override federal and state laws that protect employees from discrimination.
I think understood correctly- it is true that the employee can still file a lawsuit for discrimination or participate in an EEOC investigation and lawsuit but if you have signed an agreement like a Severance agreement that says you have waived your right to pursue any and all future legal claims it means in the case of the EEOC that you are be able to participate but you probably cannot collect any financial award. In other words you can’t sign away your rights under the EEOC but you may not be able to collect a monetary award if you have signed an agreement.

Interviewed a little over a year ago twice and it was obvious the panel managers didn't want me due to age. I had a stellar 25 year career with multiple presidents club awards and I knew once on the video interviews with both managers they wanted someone young and someone who wasn't results driven. I am happy now cause I landed with a company that appreciated my experience.

I left this shithole a few years ago. I am a hiring manager at my new organization and I would hire you and your experience any day! Just remember we are all really well trained at Lilly, so take that with you when you go to a better place!

Jay Powell will be onboarding soon. He can find positive results in any data. Just goes to show, age and wisdom are just two peas in a pod. Clinical trials will never be the same.

Did you hear about the class action lawsuit of the past four generations of Lilly employees forced out early by age discrimination? Neither did I. I just made it up. Tiny bubbles ;)

Can dead people be represented in a class action lawsuit?

In all seriousness... why has hiring and firing in America become such a toxic swamp? You gotta get dirty to get into it, and for sure, you get a lot dirtier by the time you get out of it. All of this management by spreadsheet, arbitrary and capricious goals that have no bearing on actual job performance, who you play golf with, who you go to church with... Hey none of that stuff is wrong per se, but when it's all happening at once with your peers, a strong manager with balls is required. Otherwise, staff regress into grade school style antics. Been there done that got a dozen t-shirts to prove it. The group needs to focus on its goals. That's the whole point of groups, you get stuff done that wouldn't be possible for an individual.
