mental? mental is right!!!!! look how you people talk to a 63 yr old woman who has been injured. that's the mentality of you reps. you're nothing but brainwashed, greedy people just like your employers. i say, give your family all the quinolones they can handle and you take a few yourself. you deserve the very best.

I have been a J&J (3 different companies) sales representative for 18 years and have always been honest about disclosing the good, the bad and the ugly about all of the drugs I represent. The bad and the ugly are just a small piece of the puzzle...but one that we are trained to talk about honestly. I feel very proud of the fact that when my alarm goes off I get out off bed to spread the word about products that change or save lives. The only doctors in my territory that I cannot guarantee know everything about Levaquin are the ones that won't see drug reps. Very few!

I think that you should take the message (which has been our message) to doctors. It may be tough for you to do...you would be helping me do my job! You are in my thoughts.
 




Doctors are NOT obligated to report adverse reactions. That is one of the biggest problems with the fda. You have to report your own reaction if your dr won't do it. I couldn't even get the pharmacy to do it for me.
 




Guess what the dr has to say about levaquin? He's never heard of those kind of reactions. I ask him to read the pdr and he insists that levaquin is a safe drug. Alll this as I'm being examined on a table covered in
"levaquin paper." Maybe you inform your drs. but my drs. are enjoying all the freebies you people give them and they just won't say anything bad about something that has destroyed so many lives.
Do you know that many people have committed suicide because of this drug?
Do you know that a 16 year old girl with her whole life ahead o f her is dead becaue if this drug?

Of course it's unfortunate when any drug hurts or kills someone. But 450 million patient uses tends to make me think the drug is pretty safe, don't you think? Combined with Cipro, the two quinolones have over a BILLION patient uses. Out of a billion patients, there are going to be some deaths and side effects. Like previously stated, you would have to get rid of aspirin, ibuprofen, all antibiotics and most any drug on the market if you are looking for a drug with 100% efficacy and no side effects.
 




my point about not reporting all the effects of this drug is that people are suffering and they don't know why. we are becoming a country of cripples and the reason for much of it is drugs that are affecting tendons, muscles, etc. some of the side effects don't even happen until a few weeks and sometimes months later and people are not associating the problems with the drugs they took. i think that the bad outweighs the good with this class of drugs but no one has documented enough side effects to warn innocent people of what could happen to them.
 




Wrong - its unfortunate that you drew the blackball, but overall levaquin helps far more people than it hurts. For every one of you, there are 1,000 others that are better because of this drug. All of your stories are sad, but there is no documentation that levaquin had anything to do with it. Just speculation. Thats why nothing will ever come of this. If youre looking for sympathy you might get it here, but you are speaking to a crowd where 99% will disagree with you. You should take your topic somewhere else if you want to make a difference.

Let me think about this one: dieing of pneumonia and/or staying out of the multi-bacterial resistant (germ infected) hospital where i.c. workers don't bother to wash their hands.....Or having a one in a thousand (?) or more chance of a tendon rupture where I wear a cast for a few weeks. "Doctor, please pass me the quinolone. I'll take my chances."

don't worry, the topic is going someplace else. dateline plans to do a story based on the adverse events of the class of drugs called "quinolones". finally someone in the industry that has been affected by the poison levaquin will speak up. get ready for the same fall out as there was from vioxx. but don't worry, your company will come up with something new to make their money.

It should be that simple. First of all tendon rupture is just a small part of what happens from this poison. Try hearing loss, tinnitus (permanent damage), periipheral neuropathy, intracranial pressure, visual abnormalities, depression, insomnia, anxiety, musculoskeletal damage, degeneration of cartilage. This all happens because of inhibition of the CNS GABA receptor, depletion of magnesium and disruption of cellular enzymatic function, disruption of mitochondrial function, and oxidative injury and cellular death.
What is simple is that their are many other SAFER drugs to use.

Why would you call me a hypochondriac? I'm just telling you what your company lists as side effects. Maybe you should just start studying the products you're selling so that you can do a better job informing the drs. Oh, I forgot, if the drs know the truth, maybe they won;t prescribe this poison so often and you'll lose money.
If you want to know a safer drug ask your dr or don't you trust him to know what's best for you. Not all drs are on the take!
 




Is Dateline really doing a documentary about the Quinolones? When is this coming out? Dateline did do a documentary about the quinolones in 1998. NBC got in some trouble from the manufactures of the quinolones saying that they would not advertise on their stations any more. Oprah also did a show on the quinolones. She had a bunch of people on the show that were all screwed up from being on a quinolone. Some came out in wheelchairs, one was on crutches. It was really sad. Oprah and her producers also got a lot of flack for doing the show. Just like the criticism she got for doing an expose on the meat industry. There is a book out called " Bitter Pills " and it is mainly about the devestation caused by the quinolones. The authors wife took 1 pill and has been suffering now for over six years!

Quinolones are the most efficacious antibiotics on the market. Far superior to other classes of antibiotics. However, if you suffer a severe side effect the damage doesn't last weeks or months. It is years! And, sometimes never. There are many walking wounded out there.

BTW - how many hundreds of thousands, even millions of lives has Levaquin saved?
 




Levaquin has definitely saved many lives. But it has also destroyed many lives to. Why are there so many websites devoted to the destruction that quinolones cause? You don't see any websites devoted to other classes of antibiotics. I don't mean to specifically single out Levaquin. All of the quinolones are potentially toxic. Unless you are suffering from these severe side effects you can not truely understand the severity of them.
