Writings on the wall. Beat them to the punch and leave Forest. It's only a matter if to.e before we are all in this position for one reason or another. Be looking if you aren't already. Seriously!
So with regards to this article link, what does everyone think would have to happen at Forest to successfully migrate to this type of business model? Does forest senior management or DM's/RD's even understand this article?
I would have found another job as soon as I found out I was going to be reporting to someone named "Tunisia"........WTF?
Wow. You are spot on. This type of behavior is also pervasive in the hospital division. The culture if terrible and the "off-label" selling while operating under a CIA is incredulous! A high percentage of the DM's lead by fear and offer no leadership. The Western Regional Manager has a team of "yes" DM's and promotes breaking every rule under the sun in the hospital divisions at any cost! You nailed it in this letter and there are LOTS of others whom have left that departed due to everything that was outlined. Forest WAS a good company but has taken a dramatic turn for the worst. Also, head of compliance (JZ) looks the other way and the HR Department just gives people Severance Agreements to "shut them up." Good luck. The economy is tough but if you can find another position with another company that doesn't embrace these kinds of attitudes that ultimately lead to this kind of culture........leave!
If a DM/RD does get this they will not state it....not unless they are ready to go through hell for bucking the system.
And if our company ever does adopt the "Disney" approach it would mean thinning the field sales force. Not a good move for most of us.
Finally, good luck in getting our Marketing Guru's (EH and BM) to admit their sales and marketing model is flawed. They just added even more sales people for crying out loud. Our managers are pushing reps - especially young reps - to close harder and be more forceful then ever before.
Hey NYO, I know you find it hard to beleive we may need to re-evaluate our sales model. After all, look at all the tremendous launches we have had lately. Teflaro is kicking butt - well maybe that is not a good example. Savella scripts are starting to really take off, too, right - ahhh....not a good example either. Daliresp is the one that must be doing well.....after all it is first in class. Wait, that product is not doing well either.
It must be a coincidence that our last three launches have been less than successful, right? It couldn't be due to the fact that Forest has not significantly adapted its sales and marketing approach once in the past 20 years, could it? Just because Pharma has been through the most dynamic decade in the industry's history from a PR, marketing, political, reimbursement, and regulatory perpective, why would Forest think it should need to adapt to reflect these changes? The marketplace and our customer's perceptions are unchanged since the Tiazac launch in mid-90's, right? If you studied Forest launch strategies you would think so anyway.
I'm going to go bash my head against the wall for a while...maybe it will numb me to this crap. I'm not sure why I care - except they pay me well, and I actually have some friends who work with here who I would like to see stayed employeed, be successful, and do so with a shread of decency.
