Let the FAT trimming begin!

Smart companies like Amgen have a formal DBM selection and hiring program in place. We seem to be like the Pfizers and Mercks and BMS of the late 90s, where any swingin' *&^% can be a DBM, as long as they had strong political ties to an RBD or AVP.

For example, how many people laid off from BMS did SNOY bring with him?

Snoy is kind of gross.

We only hire and promote the best of the best here. When I was in training in 2007, I was told a few times that there were an average of 100 applications for each slot. That means that its harder to be employed here than it is to get into a top med school.

We should be proud of our leaders, guys. Stop tearing them down.

Except that no one got into med school.

Amgen will hire DBMs from another company, just like Novo Nordisk will. Plus, we have a DBM developmental program for internal people looking to move into a DBM spot. If you're going to criticize, you might as well finds something legitimate to criticize about, as opposed to making shit up.

"DBM development program." What a joke!! Unless you are in the inner circle, you have ZERO chance of becoming a DBM with this company. The rest of the "program" is window dressing. I've seen plenty of talented people passed over again and again because they didn't have the right "friends."

Obviously spoken by someone who was passed over....

It's a great thought process you have here. Whenever you or your buddy don't get the job, you can blame everyone else for it. It's just 'the system', right? Gimme a break.

Obviously spoken by one of the chosen ones. Promotions are already decided months before interviews...that goes for whether you're applying for a position externally or internally. It's the good old boys club. Continue to think that you got that promotion because you were better than the other candidate...I'm sure it makes you feel good about yourself!

DBM development program? Surely, you jest.

I have to agree with the post that there is NO DBM program here. They want turnover which is why they rarely even promote from within. They could have may DBM slots filled with highly qualified former reps and deliberately choose not to. Princeton is FILLED with mgt with no sales experience or certainly not from this company or even diabetes.

DBM Development Program=RBDs "bitch" for 6+ months. aka RSM
Period.

Its a joke, but it does 'check a box', so to speak.

If you have a DBM friend from a drug company with a real assessment, coaching and development program, ask them what they went through to get the job. I did, and was told about the 12 months of interviews, assessments, classes, test-taking, coaching, and more interviews, just to qualify them as a DBM CANDIDATE. Where they had to interview once again.

How the hell does being a "Hey Boy! Run me a thus-and-so report" RSM for 12 months qualify as being mentioned in the same conversation?

I await the branded, PRB-approved response.

It's "The system", corporate politics, the good old boy network, the buddy system, nepotism, etc.

"It" has lots of names and it's found in every organization everywhere. It's simply people doing what they've always done and always will do. Many corporations have tried and failed to eliminate it. The thing anybody can do is accept it and live with it. You're never going to escape it.

You have no idea what an RSM does if that's what you think the job is. But, again, stick with your line. That way you can ensure you never take responsibility for anything in your career. I'm sure you are unbelievably fantastic, but just under appreciated in your time.

To thread 18, she also has a best bud that is a DBM in TN and she is just like her. Team hates her and she has an HR file a mile long. It is hard to understand how these 2 got to be DBM's to begin with and how they remain employed at Novo. Terrible management with those two

I don't? Funny, but I am two levels above that position. Don't you have better things to do with your time than regurgitate the same inane, snarky rebut? You're boring, pedantic, an oh-so-repetitive.

C'ya.

I'm sorry, but I don't buy this. Who has a better business mind, the average doctor, or, say, AAJ (or any other member of our Leadership team)? We are sitting on the precipice of 15 years or jaw-dropping quarterly growth, with a pipeline packed with mega-blockbusters Victoza, Saxenda, Tresiba, oral insulin, Deglu-Liraglutide and Saxenda.

From a very good source, I happen to know that restructuring means the addition of 1 to 2 full field forces by December of 2016. And not a minute too soon!

More reps are you kidding me. So how are you going to see the docs when they start shutting all the offices down because they have more reps bugging them. Just wait and see what happens by sticking to this model of 5 or 6 reps from the same company calling on the same docs.

If I hear the best of the best one more time I am going to puke. If you were the best of the best you would be in med school not a caterer!!!!

It's a shame that you've made it '2 levels' above the RSM position and you still don't know what they do. I guess it's just proof that some people can fool those around them, huh?

You are a pathetic excuse for a human being and unfortunately this is the norm with management. You feel YOU got promoted because you worked harder than everyone else, that you're more qualified than everyone else and that if everyone else JUST did what you did, they too would be overwhelmingly successful.

Understand for just one moment of your life, please, that people DO get passed over all the time and, conversely, those who are not even close to being qualified routinely get pushed up due to "who they know."
