Layoffs in 2012

The 2 up tablet territories will become 1 up. High salary and over the age of 45 expect lower reviews, competencies, and all of a sudden you will have a less than desirable attitude affecting those leadership ratings for the next 2 reviews. HR...professional management will be finalizing the plans in 2011. Announcements for optimization/displacements will be 3rd or 4th Q. Be prepared, have 6 month salary in the bank, stop living large, and pay down your debts. Lack of loyalty prevails!

July-Dec 2011 changes again or just discussion for Jan 2012 implementation?

The timing will be the same as before to improve the quarterly bottom line for the stock holders and to meet the grid objective on operating expenses and efficiencies. If you live in the western world, bye bye. Hello emerging markets!

What a f*&%ing joke of a job. The only thing I can take seriously about it is the paycheck. Everything else is my acting roll in the la-la land of pharmaceutical sales.

Oh yeah? If that were only true! Most SP reps would love to get a severance package and be "out of here"! But it will come down to "competencies", and where you are ranked by your CTM. That could mean that some "legacy Merck" reps will end up on the bottom. It wouldn't make sense to eliminate SP overlays "wholesale". Every rep will be assessed, and their fate accordingly determined.

Most reps with a brain are leaving. Opportunities are not here and will not be once CSO roll in. Find a new career selling something else, something that pays.

Take a hint from the docs and providers who are mass exiting the industry do to lack of income. Industry FDA hold out on approvals will only worsen on the pharma end. The writing is on the wall.

Have doctors and providers leaving, no pay, low pay and no income. Sad with all their education, they're now are asking about pharma jobs! Soon nowhere to go.

Husband is a PT and we agree 100%. For HCPs who are not medical doctors it's not a good financial outlook. Unless you are a high demand specialist MD/DO (cardiology, surgeon, endo ...) or maybe a pharmacist or registered nurse, jobs and incomes are not there. We depend on the pharma income to live.

This is already happening. Pretty much done deal that Merck will increase it's dividend. Hmmmmmm, how will they cover this cost in 2011???

Actually, the layoffs never stopped. They've been pushing people out for all of 2010. There will be another huge bloodbath before the end of 2011, but only after they push another few hundred out without a separation package.

What a train wreck of a company.

I dont think so. I dont know how much thinner they can get us with each one of us selling 6-7 drugs-even with Singulair expiration. Besides that, you wont have to worry about it. By then all kinds of people will have left with the implementation of NoCareer Pathways. This job has become a total joke. Many are just riding it out until the end. Others will leave. And during the whole time everybody knows that its not going to work out and we just keep telling them "oh, this is a great meeting!"
