There is a specific reason for VAGUENESS
1) the plan is complete and they do not want to disclose
2) the plan is incomplete and they do not want to disclose
3) They are worried that investors will not take to their plan before it is unveiled
4) Deals with NQ/PDI/Ventiv may or may not have been processed
5) Labopharm has no sale force... to speak of... this would be their largest entry into one of the largest markets in the US... they don't want to jinx any chances of success.

6) BTW please review stock reports on reviews of when their fiscal year stops and starts... your post is not clear.. consequently no one can understand.. which is the very reason that Labopharm leaves open to speculation... which is not good for traders or those waiting for a product.. like providers.

I think your points are well made. Many of those invested in Labopharm stocks (many of whom were trolling our board prior to their CC on the 25th) were expecting to hear of a partnership deal on that CC and were extremely disapponted in Tripp (Labo's CEO) when nothing was disclosed. I don't know where the negotiations are at this point any more than anyone else (vague is a great word) but it's my belief that Labo needs Quintiles a helluva lot more than Quintiles needs Labo. I do hope they work something out, but if not, I would chalk it up as Quintiles not seeing Labo's product (or marketing plan, if they have one) as one that would not provide enough of an ROI. I have seen newly updated positions advertised on pharma employment search agents for the 6385 project (NOT the old ones that say "this position is no longer available") but it's very strange not to see them posted on the Quintiles web site. If anything, I would say that both companies are doing a very good job of keeping discussions/negotiations very close to the vest.

Dear Acumen,

Q3 is July.

So . . . I called them . . . as an investor . . . to ask a simple lingering question from yesterday’s webcast, (and the posted financial report for Q4 of 2009). Spoke to a very pleasant person (admin assistant?) in the CFO’s office.

Question: When does fiscal Q3 begin as it relates to the launch of Oleptro?

Answer: Our fiscal year is the twelve month period ending December 31.

Question: So Q3 would begin . . . ?

Answer: July 2010.

I then placed a second call to the investment office handling that end of the business. The man answering the phone identified himself as the one listed on the website. I complimented him on answering his own phone and we spoke candidly for ten minutes. It was a pleasant exchange.
He spoke very conservatively and well within the legal guides for his position . . . but I was left with the impression that ongoing marketing negotiations were proceeding aggressively to facilitate a product launch in Q3; which again was confirmed to be July 2010. I did not ask him to name the marketing partner.

Conclusion: With Q3 being July 2010, how soon would they want a team in place, to be through training for a Q3 launch? . . . (providing all goes as planned).

Any thoughts?

Q3 launch could be July through September. Earliest that reps would be hired in this scenario would be at the end of June, then homestudy, and training.

There is no way they will hire them on any earlier than the time the company is ready to launch. If they launch in September, it will be more like a July or August hiring. Time for everyone to move on or hope for an earlier contract.

What are you trying to say is not true?? The only things listed here for 6385 are those that have already been mentioned. (Nat'l Sales Trainer and Eastern Regional Director)There are no rep or DM positions listed on the web site for 6385, which is what I stated in my post. I have, however, seen them on outside pharma search engines. If you still feel this is not true, explain specifically what you're disputing.

If they are considering July to be the beginning of Q3 and plan to launch then (in July), they couldn't wait until the end of June to have hiring finalized. They are so far behind the 8 ball as it is, I doubt they'd push it beyond beginning of Q3. I'd even go so far as to speculate that Q3 is their "conservative" time frame. Either way, figure offers need to be made at least a month in advance to account for background checks (at least a week), 1-2 weeks home study and 1-2 weeks training, then in the field the following week. I'd bet interviews would be scheduled for the last 2-3 weeks in May. That's just my opinion from experience on 2 contracts.

I have to say, some of your post cracked me up... "I complimented him... it was a pleasant exchange," etc. Good for you, (not meant sarcastically). I'm always amazed at how few people realize that you get so much farther using honey than vinegar. Obviously, YOU do realize it, and clearly you received the info you were after! Well done!

What a douche.

Whether you actually did this or not, you had to post it??? So now everyone knows, including Labopharm, that there are former reps SO desperate for information that they're calling corporate HQ posing as investors? You think knowing WHICH MONTH makes you feel better about a job that you may or may not get??

What a mess. It's assholes like you that are the reason companies don't announce their clients until an official press release.

Will everybody just CALM DOWN?

Dear CALM DOWN,

First, stop shouting and Physician heal thyself.

Second, I don’t subscribe to the notion that anything bantered about on CP has the power to spook a deal at the corporate executive level; Or delay the announcement of any business venture. It is what it is . . . whenever it is.

Thanks for the compliment, but idle conversation and posts such as these pose no harm. In other words . . . no harm . . . clear?

You disagree? Alright then, game on! . . . enlighten me. It is your point of contention . . . defend it.

If you are able to mount an argument based on fact, I’ll consider the anecdotes without prejudice or bias of the source.

And if you can’t, then . . . perhaps monsieur, you should mount what you can.

The world of CP and CSO’s await your evidence . . . don’t let the crickets do all the talking.

What a mess . . . Dorothy,

Ps: As an investor, depending on who or what happens Q3, I’m in for a couple.

So you're irritated... "did you have to post it???" If you read the post you would have seen he didn't call as a desperate sales rep... he called as an investor. Then he shared what info he received. Are you doing anything worthwhile, or do you just have to bitch for the sake of bitching?

This contract will maybe be up and running by sept-I hear there is a distinct possibility it may not materialize-MOVE TO PLAN B, don't waste your time waiting for this thing.

Sorry for the double post . . . maybe . . . even three.

The CP police have had their way with some of my recent stuff; (so I tried different ways to post . . . ooops.) Why? Because Monsieur CALM DOWN was too easy a target . . . and I was in the mood for a joust.

Thanks for the support, post #35. “ . . . to bitch for the sake of bitching” made me smile and nod. Good one.

All righty then,

Thanks for your post. Only folks with a calm perspective, like yours, seem to get it.

It’s for grins and giggles,
