LabCorp in Connecticut: A warning on CT and anyone considering a sales job!

Former sales rep here in CT with a warning to anyone thinking about taking a job in CT or, actually, anywhere else with this joke of a company.

I reactively accepted a role in this loser sector of the healthcare industry. I had just recently been a victim a large corporate downsizing with a surgical device manufaturer, a bit depressed as a result, and reactively accepted the role of the SME in CT after blowing the regional (Bill Crawford) and district (Jane Alix) managers away in a 45 minute interview. It should have been clear to me the next day after this interview when I quickly received an offer that this company had never seen talent and experience like I have for a shit job like this ever in their careers, but the recruiter I was working with sold me a bag of shit on this company telling me that it paid $120k at plan with a car. Well, it became clear to me after doing a couple of field days with the current lackluster reps in CT that are killing their careers with this company, that $120 or for that matter $100k was not close to achieveable.

What's more disgusting is I had to drop nearly $40 bucks on a shitty lunch for some babe in the district that was going out on maternity leave. What was both eye opening and laughable was how good the reps and DM here thought they were. They actually would belittle pharma reps in my presence and pump their chests that they were "lab reps". News flash: none of you could carry the bag of a pharma rep. They would smoke you so bad in front of a doctor in both presentation skills, professionalism and just about every other important characteristic that makes a a good sales rep that it is humorous to me. If I were any of you, I would aspire to be a pharama rep, becasue you are destined for a career of collecting blood, piss and shit if you stay here for too long!! I spent 5 days in the field with a variety of SMEs and KAEs and not one of them spoke to a doctor in their territory. Thankfully, I spent a day in my territory with one of the "senior" SMEs, the only thing senior about him is that he doesn't have the foresight or talent to get himself out of this joke of the industry. However, while in my terrtiry, I was able to drag him into speak with an OBGYN. Thank God, I couldn't take speaking with another retarded lab person in the office or some fool office manager.

Oh, and let's talk about those conversations in the offices. They hate LabCorp, and you will never establish this company's service in CT, because you are so totally fucking disorganized they have lost patience with you already. This fool of a DM, thinks she is just going to snap her fingers come this October, when by the way, her non-compete from Quest expires and she can actually go into offices, and all of these offices are going to fall at her feet to use LabCorp. Honey, it's time to lay of the Xanax because it isn't going to happen. You should have stayed at Quest.....poor career move!

Well, let's wrap it up, I start with a real company tomorrow, another surgical device company, where not only is $120 realistic, but $170k at plan is anticipated, not the crap I was sold at LoserCorp. Bottom line, I was here 1 month and the IT department still couldn't get the Blackberry they gave me to work. Never gave directions on how to get into the company's voicemail system to activate it, spent 2 weeks getting an email account up and running and decided not to train me on any of their products or services, but expected me to make an impact in the field. Hmmm, can see how that training strategy has been sucessful!!

For any prospective candidate thinking about this company, if the above tirade isn't enough for you to run far away from this comany fast, then you are probably the perfect candidate to join LoserCorp--a brainless knucklehead who has no aspirations to further his/her career in medical sales. Do yourself a favor, either go to or stay in pharma. THIS IS NOT A POSITIVE CAREER MOVE FOR A PRIMARY CARE PHARMA REP OR GOD FORBID, SPECIALTY PHARMA REP. As for me, yes, this was a foolish move, but I saw dollar signs and a paycheck instead of collecting. I knew I would be out within a year. I didn't realize it would be within a month and LoserCorp will obviously never don my resume!

I feel bad for you. I know that this is a hard industry. I come from pharma and another lab and the money they told you is correct. I make over 115k and it goes up steadily. The problem is they don't tell you that there will be NO TRAINING and that the company is on three three differant IT systems. The external IT is very good once you find out who to contact. There is a form for everything and that is almost impossible to learn.

Anyway, I understand. You have to give this industry time. I know that is hard when you have no time and need to make cash. I would love to be the one to implement training at LabCorp. They lose good people because there is none. I have almost quit a thousand times.

WOW !

The original poster is SO correct on his/her post. 100% accurate. This company is just a complete joke. there is NO training for any of their products or services, and for that matter, there is no one qualified to do the training. I too came to this company after being fed a bunch of BS and should have realized something was FU when I received an offer that same day.

There is just so much I could write about how terribly screwed up this company is. The ONLY thing that keeps them going is the fact they have an almost monopolistic grip on the testing industry. If LabCrap actually had to "sell" and compete for business, they would be bankrupt in 2 days.

IT department ? that's laughable !!! The few computers we were using in the office were still on Windows 95 OS. A complete joke.

This would be a good job for a person right out of high school ready to take a move up from his paper delivery route. I have never seen so many people work so hard to actually get out of doing actual work in my life. And the lies that the people tell.

There is no concern for patients at this company. The draw sites are DISGUSTING. I wouldn't feel comfortable taking a piss in them myself. It's just very sad. I am sure there are a few good people in this company, but they never stay very long because they just can't stand the completely unprofessional environment and the fact that their personal reputation takes a pounding when they work at Labshit.

Anyway, in a nutshell, this place is a complete joke.....

What a shocking "tell all" experience. Soooo professional. Looks like Quest is DESPERATE to steer all the employees they are losing away from LabCorp.

Give me a break dipshit.

No one said anything about Quest except you. I am sure Quest is just as fucked up as Labcorp. Wait, I take that back, no place is as fucked up as Labcorp.

and Quest has nothing to do with it.

Have you tried to get on Oprah yet?

I enjoyed the soliloquy.....very reminiscent of days at Spectrum Laboratory Network....I feel your pain and good for you getting out after one month...it took me five months to realize the mistake I made.

Are all Lab companies like this?

I was thinking about interviewing with LabCorp, but after reading the experiences of these poor souls, I am going to forget all about it. Sounds like a really miserable place to work.

Good for you, smart move. This company is ill, just pathetic. I don't think Quest is any better, so stay away from Lab all together. Look for somewhere where you have more control of your destiny.

Sure isn't labcorp.
