Kythera has hired a bunch of management. Looks like it's a mixed bag of good and bad hires. Know what they are offering for field positions? I am concerned about going to a start up.

Allow me to offer some advice. If you are concerned about going to a start up, then don't go. And how the hell would you know if its a mixed bag of good and bad hires? Were you hiding under the desk during the interviews? Do you personally know and have worked with all of the managers? How about getting yourself a cup of STFU and crawl back into your hole.

Why would anyone care about a company with a drug that hasn't launched (hence no quota accuracy) that everyone knows will eventually get acquired?

This is exactly what will happen. In this derm industry, I would not recommend leaving a sound company with benefits for a start up.they will be such a small player in the industry and investors will be looking for that exit strategy . I've been through this 3 times in four years. Its not fun .Stay with stability.

This is from online the reality is the same company alot will leave may be the same company that buys them out !

Makers of dermatologic and aesthetic drugs, including Nestle SA's Galderma, Allergan Inc, and Johnson & Johnson will likely find ATX-101 attractive and could look to acquire rights to the drug or offer to buy the company, Cowen & Co's Ken Cacciatore said in a client note.

Went through phone screen with Princeton One and f2f the # that was quoted to me was 70k at plan for the yr re commission. That is not anything massive I expected it to be at least 90k plus since it is a start up. Also you all need to realize another company based in San Diego has another product nearing release most likely late 2016 for fat reduction in large body areas such as the abdomen. Not saying Kythera won't be good but they have an indication for small areas
not large.

This is accurate.
For those constantly complaining during Galderma's growing pains, go see what a start up is like. The money is garbage at Kythera considering the long term career risk and the short term disorganization.
Best of luck to those that leave. Don't burn any bridges on your way out......

You have not worked at a start up then. Start ups can be awesome opportunites. The money can be very good. Look to get options they could pay off in the future. One major plus is you don't have to deal with the meetings and all the paper work. Start ups are more simplistic, you would have one product to sell. They pay you and do it quickly.

Or not. The kythera product will have lots of problems at launch. By the way, check out the stellar talent pool of managers. Could they have hired a less talented crew, I think not. Same here

The other San Diego company has a product for temporary fat reduction in the abdomen (cells release fat but the cells remain intact). Fat cells with Kythera's product actually lyse and it is a permanent reduction. Very little to no competition here.

Except for compounding and lipo. Good for the market but not sure how significant adverse events will impact launch. If it works it will be purchased and field force dissolved just like fat

kythera destroys the fat cells, meaning patients don't have to come in again. That's actually not a good thing conpared to the consonant in San diego (Neothetics), whose conpound shrinks fat cells and requires patient to come back 6-9 months later like facial injectables. Kythera produxt is also more toxic and restricted to smaller areas as a result. Neothetics will get larger indication areas but won't launch until 2017 if not bought first. Phase three results come in end of 2015 and then they have to prep filing and then wait nine months for approval. 2017 is a long way off.

Alll this back and forth about a company that might not be around in a year. Unless you are desperate and unemployed why would you join this uncertainty. Give it a year and see if it actually has a place in the market. The way sales professionals move around there will always be open positions. To join now, is ridculous.
