Kombiglyze XR

just left an endo office this morning and was told that they are rolling all of the janumet pt's over to kombiglzye b/c its cheaper. In this economy, patients are hurting and they feel like it is wrong to keep them on a more expensive medicine that does the same thing.

I feel a migraine coming on....

Migraine, Hell! You've got an ass-fucking coming on....

How can we compete? Kombiglyze and Janumet are not the same... once vs. twice a day dosing, less GI and it is cheap. It's hard to compete with better tolerance, easier dosing and $10. I'm losing big in my area.

bingo. an ace is an ace is an ace. an arb is a arb is a arb. now a dpp-4 is a dpp-4 is a dpp-4. looks like the same 'ol merck marketing teams that had the brand strategy of zocor v. lipitor are still spooking the halls of merck. all those brilliant mba's have never figured out drug sales boils down to:efficacy, safety, dosing, cost.

You can not compete with Once a day, $10 and relationships. Only because of cuts last year with Merck do docs even know who the Merck reps are. Not so long ago every other rep was a Merck rep and would be selling the same portfolio to the point where docs would get annoyed and stop seeing reps for the day or week. You are all robots and never had true relationships with docs and now you need them...Good Luck!!!

Size of pill backfired on me today. I showed a doctor, and he told me so what?
All XR drugs have large pills. He's been Rxing them for years without much of an issue.

he then asked me if the only reason I should write Janumet is because Kombiglyz was a bigger pill that I was wasting his time.

Then he once again asked for head to head data, which we don't have, and asked what our price was.

I have a feeling I'm not going to get any Janumet out of him anymore, and he's a top 10 Januvia/Janumet doc.

Wow....you're actually trying to combat them on pill size??? How about pulling out the Onglyza PI and citing their efficacy - both monotherapy (-.3 & -.4 in one study - pathetic!) as well as their add-on to metformin. When placebo and met were factored out - they had a real measley reducation compated with met. Stick to the pi my friend - there's plenty of ammo there!

I was told to NEVER sell from the PI.......
IS the PI on the computer and available for sales calls?

You're a Kool-Aid drinker. The Onglyza/Komb data is good, regardless of what the ass-kissing Merckoids say. It's no better than J/J, but certainly no worse, either. We're lucky to have the market share we have. That will change when our Lipitor comes along; Onglyza just wasn't it.
