This is a complex scientific/service industry very difficult for those used to the pharma or product arenas to acclimate to. It is wearing that new senior managers seem to have no basic instincts or strategic inclinations. That along with limited interpersonal skills and immature reasoning continue to thwart even the most stellar sales efforts. I hope a better fit can be found for her particular talents.

Thanks...I needed a laugh. Your post really took off when, after stating the complexity of providing printer paper, you go on to write a completely illiterate sentence. Seriously, if you think that a medical device sales rep couldn't handle the "complexity" of the lab business, you are sorely mistaken. My guess is you couldn't describe what most tests are used for other then ImmunoCap and HPV - and it has taken you years to get that far.

Einstein, I think the intent was to articulate in a politically correct way that trying to wade through the Quest corporate dysfunction is overwhelming.
I know that trying to understand other company boards can be confusing...even for medical device salespeople.

Hospital reps are selling ImmunoCap and HPV testing?

Well I for one don't think a device rep can handle selling a service after selling a product. Seen too many come and then high tail it back to their recruiter. The way I see it it doesn't take much to pitch your product using the speech you have been taught to say. Monkey see, monkey do.

please don't use big words. there are device people trying to read the posts.

The hospital business is (or was) profitable and the folks supporting it - creative 0 but Quest has devastated the relationships by decimating the employees who had the knowledge and connections = good luck with the major contracts now that the supports have been laid off - CALIFORNIA can you survive???

I don't get it either. From time to time the company brings in people that at best operate at the edge of our values and outside of good management/HR practices and don't add value to the business. Yet we keep them. Granted the company has from time to time made mistakes and then corrected it, but yet too many linger or are simply bad hires to begin with.

I keep hoping the new management after the buy out will get rid of her. She is toxic.
