There is no such thing as a 1 time job cut. The company is losing patents and exclusivity on many of its drugs over the course of the next two years and they will be shedding people as time goes on. This is just the first of many to come.

Not of this size. This one is huge. 6% of the work force is being laid off and if you count non-essential people who are counted (janitors etc) your talking about almost 10%.
