Well Folks- this will be the third time I am going through layoffs at Abbott. Expect at least 1,000 reps to be laid off in January..... This will not be a good situation for many of us.
GO AWAY TROLL.
Any new info or updates on the layoffs in January?? We were told to schedule lunches....riiight and look stupid when we have to call and cancel again for the 4th time in 6 months!!!
I was one of the reps that was laid off back on Jan 23, 2009. Abbott gave me a very generous package, after 20 years tenure. You should be thankful that you have a job and quit worrying about getting laid off-if it happens-it happens. Remember this saying:"Worry is the interest paid on trouble that may not even happen.

Calm down you lemmings. There will not be layoffs in January. March/April maybe but not january. Pull your panties out your butt. Jeez!
Not quite sure of the magnitude, but there will be a load let go early next year.
Will vary tremendously by specific newly drawn territories. If you are in a very loaded up major metro area that is curently fragmented into small territories, watch out!
Those are going to be the major reduction locations when they consolidate the turf.
Next biggest will be the dead zones remaining with low market volumes and overly staffed.
Thats the new strategy folks, period.
The cut makeup will probably favor Abbott regulars first, Solvay second and Nov. last.
Bottom line, if you are in an overly rep saturated area and also have mainly regular Abbott employees, you are very, very exposed to getting cut. Period.
