Janssen Specialty Cardiology Contract

BEWARE! Too many unknowns for this contract, regardless of the pay range they will only pay you a percentage above what you are making and it doesn't come close to the 100k+ the Janssen reps are making. No company car, benefits minimal at best and only two weeks vacation. They want specialty reps, with cardiology experience but are not willing to pay for good people. If you are desperate, by all means say yes.

Well, if that's true, then they sure snowed me at my face 2 face interview earlier this week. Maybe that's why I've not heard anything back yet about the cluster interviews?

And if you do have a few years of specialty Cardio experience, it's time to set your sights on a higher goal. Perhaps Regeneron, Actelion, J&J speciality, etc. is where you go next. Don't settle on shitty contract gigs year after year. Move that career forward!

Agreed!! I just had the rudest phone screen. And what the second recruiter told me didn't line up with what the first said. They try to say it's this great salary and then when you go forward they say "yeah no, it's really this". I'm like you are trying to push this specialty position on a low balled salary and no car? Give me a break.

My recruiter mentioned salary would fall between 83K and 93K depending on experience, and that the second interviews (Cluster interviews after initial F to F) would take place during the week of the 18th-22nd. No idea whether I'll be moving forward beyond my first interview last week, but interested in knowing what others were told regarding salary range. If I remember correctly, 5 weeks of home study begins May 9th, so there won't be much waiting around one way or another.

I was told the exact same thing about both the salary and the timeline. I was also told that I would hear back this week either way, no word yet?

Well, I hope you do hear back and that you're moving forward. I admit that's partly selfish... I'm curious to hear how your scenario plays out so I have something to gauge mine by. I can also tell you that some of the first interviews are still taking place (yesterday and today - Wednesday), so it's quite possible they're waiting 'til all the candidates have been interviewed before choosing the 2 for each territory who will move forward next week. Good luck!!

I'm guessing for those of us who still haven't heard anything, we won't be going to cluster interviews next week. I do wish they had kept their word and called EITHER WAY.

I was one of those turn down in the first wave, just my opinion, but I think it is Jassen that is the problem. Q would have hired a number of current and former reps on this project, and treat everyone better than what Jassen has done here. Q has to work with what the client wants, even if Q does not agree.

I actually agree with this 100%. Many time, their hands are tied.

True enough, but just from what I've heard from the hiring managers on this project, the relationship btwn the Q hiring DM's and Janssen is good, pretty cohesive, so I don't have the feeling that those being sent forward are being shot down once they reach Janssen leadership. It's unfortunate that people haven't been notified if they aren't going to the Cluster interviews, but that comes back on the initial Quintiles interviewers. They know which 2 they've chosen to send on to Janssen for each territory, so if we haven't received the courtesy "No" phone call, that's on the person we interviewed with from Quintiles, right?

A no call is not too much to ask.

Anyone have info on the status of this? Wave 2 start? Car or allowance? How many call/day? Base salary range? Location of training?

I have not heard anything after F2F with manager so I'm not overly hopeful...

I actually got a call from the recruiter yesterday, she said the project has been pushed back to a June 9 start date and that I was still in the running. She said I'd hear something next week?

I interviewed 2 weeks ago and until this morning I have heard nothing, especially considering my interview with the Quintiles DM went very well (in my opinion!!!). So, I called the recruiter this morning and was told that I will be moving on to the Cluster Round. Good news and I am quite excited. I did ask a few questions and here is what I was told, which should confirm what has been previously posted here:

1. Yes, the project had been moved back and Cluster interviews will not take place until the week of May 16.

2. Yes, salary range is mid 80's to mid 90's, and may be negotiable within reason. True, a bit low for an experienced Cardiovascular Specialty Rep.

3. True, there is no co. car, but a generous car allowance of .575 cents / mile. This should cover most if not all auto expenses related to the job. It could be a benefit if K is extended beyond the end of 2017, which is a strong possibility, if not a probability. (I have been told by many...Jansen Reps whom I know quite well...that the relationship between Quintiles and Jansen is strong). You may purchase a nice vehicle and end up owning it outright in 2-3 years.

4. Yes, territories in some areas of the country have either been changed or eliminated, which is the primary reason for the delay.

I will close by saying that my interview with the Quintiles went very well and the DM was a very pleasant, positive person who I would be very comfortable working for. This is HUGE in any area of pharma / medical sales as most experienced reps will attest to...which is a big part of the reason for my excitement in moving on to the next round. As well, Xeralto should be a fun drug to sell.

Good luck to all.

Ok, guess I didn't need to copy that whole post, but thanks for the info! I had a feeling this was perhaps pushed back, but feelings aren't worth much, so thanks for confirming. Anyway, great news for you, and I'm glad to hear someone talk about moving forward. The "no car" thing is not a bad thing at all if you've done it before, and the reimbursement works out well. I've had my own car on several contracts and I couldn't be more comfortable. The other upside is "you don't give it back" when all is said and done! Best of luck with the Cluster Interviews!
