'iverhart plus"

Re: 'iverhart plus"

Just watched the most disgusting commercial on T.V. Why would anyone even begin to think that the ad with the worm coming out of a dog would sell a product. Bad ......Just Plain BAD

Re: \'iverhart plus\"

Hi

I was recently given Iverhart and not heart guard when I brought my dogs to the vet. Is it a "generic"of sorts for Heartguard?

I am feeling ripped off.

Also, I a nine year veteran in pharma specialty sales. Any comparisons with someone with my experience in Vet. med? Are salaries similar, and do Pharma reps often get hired?

Thanks..

Well, how much did you pay for it? If the doc is selling it at the same price of HG, then you sure did get "ripped off". I mean, would pay the same amount for "Sam's Choice" cola as you would Coke?

Re: Iverhart Max

Too funny... Merial reps are not the brightest....-- Go make some calls before your boss realizes you were at The Cracker Barell all day (oh wait he already does they track you)

Re: 'iverhart plus"

Why are you people so nasty? Is that the sales culture? Jesus. Why don't you all just slit each other's throats or something.

Tis the culture, never met a Merial rep that was honest or nice, they sell by being liars, every one I ever met. I am not saying there are not good ones, I have just not met any.

Re: 'iverhart plus"

If anyone remembers what happened with ivermectin, the deaths everyone is freaking out about happened when farmers gave cattle grade liquid ivermectin to their dogs, the majority of whom are part of the collie family, in unmeasured doses. HG itself as it is produced is absolutely safe and has never had a lot number, batch or any other combination thereof recalled. Any generic, human or animal, is only required to be within 20% of original formulation bioavailability. Some generics don't matter (antibiotics) and some matter very much (digoxin, birth control) depending on the disease state. Why do people have to get so rude?

Re: 'iverhart plus"

because we hate the reps that divert and then claim to not know where it comes from. Petmeds express cannot buy all that product sideways.

I agree. The frustrating part is that certain RM's & DM's allow it to happen with certain rep's. Others get their hands slapped. What's up with that???

Re: 'iverhart plus"

so, i had this situation with my vet. I have a border collie mix who I've been giving Iverhart Plus too for over a year and she does fine with it. However, I went into my vet to renew her prescription and they told me collies shouldn't have Iverhart because they're sensitive to it and it may harm them, they won't let me buy from PetMeds, so I can't even get it if I think my dog is fine. Are they right to do this or do they just want me to buy from them? If my dog hasn't had a problem yet, do you think she will develop one later on?

Re: 'iverhart plus"

Actually you should call Virbac in Texas. They make that product.
Merial is the direct competitor to the people who make Iverhart Plus.
Asking on this board is like asking the people at Coke if it is safe to buy Pepsi.

Re: 'iverhart plus"

I had a vet tell me that he had a client that died after using iverheart plus the first time. He had a collie and his vet assured him it was the same as the Heartgaurd he was currently on. He gave the dose and 2 hrs later the dog was dead. any rep who sells this generic stuff should really look at the studies and feedback from vets.

Re: \'iverhart plus\"

How is this a class issue?

Look up the word "Bioavailibility".

It means equal. HG went off patent. Nothing more or less.

HG has killed dogs and had batches recalled. So what?

Why is it still available? It is clearly well documented that its a dangerous drug for dogs. Why do veterinarians still sell it?
