IS THERE ANYTHING GOOD ABOUT WORKING FOR APPLIED MEDICAL?

There is Nothing Good about Applied Medical. Trust ME! Even if you'r desperate don't take a job with Applied. It is by far the worst company in America. Management from the very top, has nothing but contempt for it's sales force, and middle management " a bunch of rejects from the Old U. S. Surgical" has a management philosophy from the stone age. You will find at Applied there are 4 categories that Sales Rep's fall into:

1. The Older Rep. who has no where else to go.
2. The Younger "no experience" Rep. looking to break into Device Sales.
3. The "laid off - let go' Rep. who needed a Job.
4. The 90 % plus who are currently looking for another Job!

You don't want to be part of this Group. The economy is improving and as it gets better more and more of these Reps are leaving. I can see the flood gates opening wide in 2013!

Are you shitting me!!!!!!!The economy is getting better? You must have voted on Obama.....The economy sucks and is getting worse....Do you realize that on January 1st 2013 every medical device company now has to pay a new "Device tax".....this tax is going to shut down some companies and a lot of people are going to loose their jobs....I just lost my job and I would draw a welfare check from your president before I worked at this piece of shit place....thanks for voting on him..I think I will sit on my ass and collect my money from him....

Now the question is, when are they going to pay us the supplemental money they owe us for working out of territory? No word in almost 3 weeks as to what is going on! 3 WEEKS! Whta is going on??????????????????

Upper management here: you will get your money at the end of the qtr as stated in your comp plan. Please stop posting on this board immediately and read the comp plan!

I was with Applied for about 1 1/2 years. The recruiter, DM, and RM misrepresented the position. I was told I would make $120 to $150,000 my first year. I was also told my territory had a lot of room for growth. What they did not tell me was the REASON for growth. My territory had NO business due to failed evaluations. I left a very reputable employer for Applied, then walked into a very bad situation.

Due to very bad product performance and a poor company image, my territory could not grow. Without warning, my DM "demoted" me to a TMA position. That meant less pay, and limited (if any) commissions. I also had to travel to "assist" other TM's for their evaluations. My expenses were not fully reimbursed (as promised in the interview process.) Yet I was expected to put everything on my personal credit card.

During the interview process to get away from this company, every hiring manager stated what a horrible, unethical, sleezy company Applied was. Fortunately, I didnt have to mention this and look like a disgruntled employee. I just accepted the situation because I knew Applied's tactics. If I said anything, I would be terminated. As we all know, its easier to find employment when you are employed vs unemployed.

It seems certain people are protected at Applied. The best day of my life was when I left such a dishonest organization.

I wonder if we could get a group of people together to form a class action lawsuit regarding the following facts:
1. Misrepresentation of position in the interview.
2. Misrepresentation of average salary.
3. Hiring people for TM positions and demoting without warning.
4. Not paying commissions when earned.
5. Not fully reimbursing company expenses when on "temporary" reassignment for evaluations.
6. Promoting employees from TMA positions to TM positions WITHOUT increasing base salary to TM pay.

Please talk to people within the organization (as well as those who have left) and see if enough could come forward to help change the structure of this evil organization.
Very spot on. Having worked for other large companies, i had the dream that this would be a better gig. Was i wrong? Hell yes i was WRONG.
Zero accountability was enforced by other managers who’s employees effected my pay. Everyone is afraid to reel in the one problem child who is the true cancer in the terrirory.
Ultimately they fired me because i could not “get along” with this narcissistic, Napoleon complexed red headed loud mouth. No one, absolutely no one could manage this non-team player. So again i had the pleasure of being the scape goat. My goodness i am sleeping so much better since i was let go.
Reimbursement for business expenses is like shooting spitballs at a moving truck. Just keep trying to get your money back- good luck. I ended loosing $3,500 + of my personal money financing my own job at App Med. That department is run by people who cannot explain to you what you need to do so you can get your money back. If the starts and moon align, you might get your check after 5 or 6 weeks. That is if your knucklehead manager remembers to review your expenses. Good luck on this as well.

the base pay is very low for the work put it. My role was at times 7 days a week in the field. I’d hate to calculate my hourly wage with those hours put in.

Training was interesting. 6 weeks of atrocious stress and unjust pushing to get through. Yes, we were paid up to 8 hours a day for the 16-18 hours of work put in a day. The trainers, with the exception of one, were all so superficial and played games all along the way.

As for the job description- it was totally misleading. 2 big cities turned into 5 states. Again, misrepresentation of the job. Travel is limited to unsafe hotels due to limits on hotel prices no matter where you travel. My safety isn’t worth that type of corporate restriction. Poor form.

In the end, it was a true blessing to be outed from this pipe dream of a company.
As stated above in another entry- your boss can make or break you. In 18 months i had one excellent manager who moved to another territory and one who couldn’t find his/her ass with both hands. The old adage that a person gets elevated to their highest level of incompetence is 100% correct. Wouldn’t answer calls, text messages or emails. What a great hire/promotion App Med. Congrats.

The company could do so much better but simply cannot get out of its own way.
“Applied Medical, where mediocrity is praised”.

I would look elsewhere for any and all entry level, or mid level jobs and avoid this place like the Covid virus.
Or you can take the job and play Russian roulette with your career.

ALL THE MESSAGE BOARDS ARE BASHING AM. THERE HAS TO BE SOMEHTHING GOOD ABOUT THIS COMPANY. PLEASE SERIOUS REPLYS ONLY.
After nearly two years at AM, i can honestly say i had one good manager. She was awesome! The rest is very forgettable. Expenses, managers, meetings, conference call that should have been a post it note, wasted money by buying new buildings, repackaging items in old boxes to send back hoping the reused boxes don’t fall apart in transit, horrible trainers, worthless power hungry APS’s, low wages, ever shifting MBO’s. Not a healthy place to work. I know a guy who went to work in a prison and felt more safe there! No joke.
