Is it really that bad at ConMed?

Do you guys make any money? From what I am reading on here it seems like it is one of the worst medical device companies to work for. I know Cafe Pharma isn't the best resource but their can also be a lot of truth on here too.
Do you guys make any money? In speaking with a recruiter I was told $125-135 my first year ($50K base) selling mainly Altrus (which sounds like a big joke from you guys). Is this not a next generation product? Do any Doctors like it?
Thank you for any feedback.

Dude,

Why don't you read some (1000) post on this site about how bad this Division is. The management team is terrible and hated! The have the highest turnover then any other Medical Device company in the United States. The other divisions aren't bad just stay away from this one!

Dude, I did read the other posts. Of you notice that's why I was asking specifics about pay and products. All I'm reading is that people don't make money (but no specifics so "not making money" can be a huge range), and the products specifically.
I understand the culture and management are bad.

Here is a real factual answer for you, so I hope you appreciate the 15min I have dedicatred to respond to your questions. I have been with ConMed for a couple years. I would you suggest you reach out to reps on Linkedin not get your info from cafépharma. These folks on this board probably have good reason to be sour I would imagine, but I wonder what their motivation is, or if it’s based on old experiences.

Here’s a summary of the comp plan from notes I took at our NSM meeting:

50-60K – 60K is if you have device experience.

8K-36K bonus depending how much Altrus you sell 125K-200K target quotas.

20K bonus for total quota - 5K for each quarterly quota achievement.

1-2K- 1.5% monthly commissions on commodity products.

1-15K - 7.5% monthly commissions on Capital, Smoke, Altrus and Argon. This can fluctuate based on capital deals you close and how much Altrus you sell.

Paying out commission and giving sales credit for rewards program, also increased percentage to from 3% to 15% credit for ES supplies. This program is like the airlines frequent flyer program. This will help us hit our capital numbers.

15% commissions on all disposable sales as soon as you achieve prior year total sales which gets paid out day 1 not at the end of year like old plan – this is where management is telling us we can make good money.

Altrus can be sold, not an easy sale but can be done. I did not hit my Altrus number last year but with the new product improvements and what I have done in the Q4, I think I will sell at least a 150K next year.

Have new Argon products coming out (Davinci) and positive clinical supporting equivalence to Aquamantis.

I think last year's plan it would be a stretch to make 150K, but this year should be different. Good luck! I would suggest you go through the process get the order and then decide if you want the order.

Thank you VERY much for taking the time to write all of this. I really appreciate it and will take your advice and reach out to reps on Linked In vs. getting my info from Cafe Pharma. Good Luck hitting your numbers this Quarter too.

Whatever the current commissions are, they're going to change again very soon. DM to retire and SM to report to JD in Utica. One Conmed is the vision and they're hoping that an integrated sales force gets Voce off their back until they well the whole enchilada. I can't believe that anyone would voluntarily work in any Conmed division but if you need a job for a few months...

You are a tool. If you are going to reach out on LinkedIn avoid the folks with the BS description like "Advancing Careers through... Leadership...blah blah... Handjobs for SM..."

Why would you leave if you're currently with ES? Hang in there and get severance when they clean house after integrating the sales force with Utica's and Largo's. Or take your chances with Covidien/JnJ/etc after they acquire Conmed.

Anyone notice how many new jobs there are kicking off 2014 with ES div? Answer - Many! This shit goes on every year. Why does Senior Management let this continue?
