Is bad rep of Novartis medical for real?

It doesn't hurt to apply if you want a job desperately. You should. Yes , it can become toxic if you are good, hardworking and not political. This company is used to the drugs selling themselves so management is basically not required and they use their power in an abusive manner as they themselves are incompetent. It has some of the most lousy low grade obnoxious people. Both medical and marketing have majority incompetent and a few competent individuals. The competent individuals are kicked out or moved to another job. Good luck!
 




And yes to e in medical you have to be largely useless or be in a position that realistically requires you. Medical has large groups that are very toxic and excessively controlled. Medical is congratulated for sales numbers. Medical and commercial are not quite separated. It is very unethical per US regs. Most medical bosses do not speak anywhere for the company on a podium specifically the ones working on approved products. Only clinical development speaks publicly. If you like to kiss up to everyone, participate in juvenile non medical projects and waste company resources, party and lead commercial the wrong way and kiss up to commercial, you are in the right place. Just don't show your medical abilities because medical abilities in medical is a sure shot for trouble.

No one in medical cares about the CIA. Very few have integrity. Most are worse than the commercial org and the ones who last the longest have sold their souls to the devil.

No the top leaders who are new are the ones that don't care about it. They have very little US experience and are completely useless when it comes to US laws. Someone needs to call the FDA. Medical top leadership stinks. Many have been in the US less than 3 years and put all people down who know what they are doing. The head of US Oncology is a completely useless German woman who worked in Korea and Switzerland and disrespects all US laws. She has tortured some decent and kind Americans who know the rules. Call the FDA on this crazy German woman. She should be fired. Her friends in Commercial moved from medical are also pretty useless. We need US citizens working in America at top positions and not these crazy heartless Germans. They need to be certified on FDA and local laws. Stupiditos.

Some Truth in this but the troublemakers are usually colleagues who are intensely jealous and in the current environment of no offices lie thru their teeth due to seething internal anger that is never visible outside. These quiet bitter ones destroy lives. They are the first to complain about others, first to lie as intense jealousy gets the better of them and they want someone's job. These internally bitter and burnt ones court the senior leaders. The free, open and truthful ones who sometimes can even get a bit upset are the target of these scheming people and they are waiting everyday burning inside for their opportunity. No one knows how this can be fixed.

I agree that the medical heads at the topmost are dummies but only somewhat from being foreign. They also have no backbones. They know their groups are bloated and suck away profit. Plenty of others copy the same way of doing things below them. They parade themselves around, basically selling the medical team as rainmakers.
 








Field force has many unresolved issues. For Kymriah, Promacta, Afinitor, and Rydapt, Medical Directors, Medical Information and MSLs do not all have the same answer. They are not on the same page. The joke is on them. I had once a Medical Information doctor tell me that she was a physician and so is a better option than the medical director. Turns out this physician never passed the boards or ever practiced medicine. Inside story obtained is there are several weird physicians who were teachers in some dumb place and are not even remotely close to medicine or research. They all have hired each other and alienate anyone who does not kiss up to them. I have more knowledge of medicine than them and most times they are rude, do not have the right answer and fail to respond in a timely manner. One insider also mentioned that a few of the pharmacists think they are God’s gift to earth when in reality most do not have the slightest clue and they get out of answering simple Qs. Is this part of Vas’ Unbossed culture as Vas himself was never a practicing physician?He feels superior among them. Pick anyone off the streets and label them as physicians. HR on Koolaid.

Why do we spend so much money on these meetings? Field Medical Sales Directors is a better job description. Glad no one is sold on this....yet.

Marcie the CMO is leaving. Don't kid yourself its not a promotion. Folks cannot wait for her to get to Basel and say what they really think of her. Oh, wait: they already are. Mary, you must be so happy!

Stay away because the next leader will NOT be any better and the managers that sucked up to Marcie there will all be doing everything they can to make sure they look better than you do.

Amen to this post. Marcia was clueless. Good riddance. Always left a cyclone of stupid thoughtless and mindless activities (err, solutions in her opinion) in her wake. Managers more useless than pond scum. And yes, lots of backstabbing manipulations for the purpose of self preservation and self promotion. This happens in most pharma medical leadership, but I think it is the worst i have ever seen here.

If she likes you you’re fine. If she doesn’t then it’s so obvious that you go. Every one I know who has left has gone on to take either more senior roles, more bucks or both. Those who stay play the game.

The CV division is a total shit show. Everyons is stressed to the max from the top dog down. ABLs are asking reps to do unthetical things, non compliant in the worst ways. Novartis is going to be in deep s*** soon. More fines & another CIA, STAY TUNED & STAY AWAY !
