Is bad rep of Novartis medical for real?

All I hear is that there’s lots of politics, game playing by managers and lots of turnover. Worse than other places. For jobs at the Jersey site.

BS or not? Scared to apply but heard pay is good.

Yes, it is true. If you are not accustomed to lie, kiss up to managers and be their weapon in their dirty deeds to frame the associates who are not part of their click, do not bother to apply. You will have no life or have a disgusting one. They will get rid of you the second they suspect you are not one of them. Pay is good but you will pay with your health and conciosness. You will either sell your soul or you will be out. Think long and hard before you apply. Good luck!

Read the headlines. This should be your determining factor if you want to work for a company that acts the way this company acts. If that is not enough to scare you away just remember your bonus is not based on performance but if your manager thinks your ethical.

The lower level staff are a mix of decent and crappy because they raise the crappy ones up. Crappy meaning the ones who step on others.

The top piglet is one of those soulless leaders who does a lot of double talking. Acts strong but is insecure. Makes the place unhappy and makes all beneath feel unsettled.

The longer that staff are there tells you that they are good at playing politics. If you are good at that then you will fit right in. You've been warrned.

All you have to do is look at the turnover. Can't imagine its hard to figure out on linkedin. That will be your answer because the place just goes through people. Happens outside of medical, as you would imagine it would.

I know probably a dozen people who have been there and only a couple have stayed and those that stay are in supportive departments like budgeting, not the docs. The docs who left all HATED the place.

I'd wait for something better to come before going there. Heard it hasn't changed since 2015 when I checked out.

The place basically goes from periods of awful to periods of just barely tolerable. And everything affects morale. Whether it is going from one crazy CMO to another or the influx of the international Novartis people who all think they are so great until they realize they are not or the marketing teams that keep being rehashed or the constant propaganda that claims that they care about you so much that you have to bother with all sorts of silly career documents that no one reads or makes use of or the reorganizations and general shuffles that go on or the budget management BS where they tell you to go go go and then the money, where is the money... And it all happens constantly and only like that there.

It also is a place that screws with your head as we all saw the vindictive leadership periodically culling out the people that should be kept on because the management is too paranoid and everyone has to pretend it makes sense when it makes no sense at all. A lot of people living with their cowardly selves.

The biggest improvement leaving? More stable. Less assholes.

Very well summarized.

Awesome!

You have to be totally desperate or at the Bottom of Your Game to work for this company. I left after one year because it's seriously a loony bin. The conversations you will be having w/ your ABL are beyond insufferable. Then there is the 1 or 2 people in your district that believe they are in Management Training. These two people have been w/ the Company 10-20 years and still believe that the Company is going to promote them. But really, the conversations you will be having w/ the ABL is absolutly twilight zone material.

Omg. Right on. I am in medical, and all I can say is you nailed it with your impression. I have seen lots of silly politics and reorgs at many previous companies, but this place is like no other.

Yep one messed up dysfunctional company. They treat the sales force like shit because they fu_cked up. The beatings will continue until the moral improves !!!

The above is good. There are so many reasons not to be near NVS. Here is another, the NUMBERS, The numbers are a joke yet you will be having important conversations w/ your ABL concerning them in addition your bonus is allegedly based on them. However the bonus structure is a whole other issue that someone else can address. Getting back to these numbers , they randomly change! But yet your ABL will want to have serious conversations about your territory numbers. I mean this stuff is twilight zone material. Everyone knows the numbers are bogus yet the conversations keep coming!

NVS places you into Groups, at the end of ever TRIMESTER your Group changes. Basically everyone has a time at the TOP / MIDDLE / BOTTOM as you progress through these Trimesters. So if you wait long enough, a few months your ranking is going to completely change to either better or worse. There is no need to stress out over it except that the ABLS talk to you as if the rankings are constant, so there is needless anxiety over a bizarre conversation that is going to happen in the near future. It's the luck of the Group you are in at the time.

If you ever talk to an NVS employee and they tell you that they have constantly high rankings and win Presidents Club award every year, It's BS!!!! Totally made up!! I met one ABL that said in a 19 year career he won 17 Presidents Club!!! Seriously in any other company that person should be Promoted directly to the top! Basically it didn't happen, it's all BS Smoke and Mirrors.

Firstly, this thread is about home office personnel, not field sales. Secondly, your info regarding "groups" is WAY old. That hasn't been the case in a couple of years. Thirdly, I know who you are and you SERIOUSLY need to move on with your life. Stop looking back and try looking forward for once. Stop dwelling on the past. Sorry your huge ego was hurt but get over it already.

I'm glad you know who I am. And sorry, Nope, not moving on it's way to much fun "triggering" you every once in while. People making job decisions need to know some of the insufferable inexcusable ways of your company. That's what these forums are for. Just like Yelp, Trip Advisor and Glass Door are for travel and Companies.

And for the last part, I wasn't hurt at all, as a matter of fact if you remember correctly your personnel cowardly ran away from me. You probably don't know that though! I mean really, what happened? One minute they were making threats then all of a sudden I never hear from them again? Hummm. Wonder how many HR / Laws were broken in those leading up conversations? Big talkers, that when push came to shove they disappear. So, thanks for reminding me how sweet that victory was! And by the way, when I left, I was ranked very high in my group and received a nice fat bonus.

To everyone else reading this thread, Keep an Attorney in your back pocket when dealing w/ anyone from this company, keep copious notes w/ details of conversations and dates. Unfortunately, it shouldn't have to be this way but w/ this company it's a necessity. These ABLs/RMs and Peers step over lines all day everyday because they don't think anyone will challenge them until it happens. Just like the above poster telling me to move on because they hate the truth, it's ruining their delusion of reality.

Their process of finding out information (I think it's called BPO) is a sham, I'm pretty sure everyone realizes this though. Don't back down from these people either if you know you are right and have representation but you better have representation. Accommodate them w/ 1-2 conversations only, you must stick to this strict plan. The second, cut it short if the conversation is redundant, I assure you it will be redundant, just tell them to go through your representation. The whole bunch are just not nice people.

And just for everyone to know, I wasn't fired, I sure was hoping for that to proceed forward but they just wouldn't fire me, I didn't even go to a National Meeting and they didn't fire me! finally after dancing w/ them for 5 months I moved on. I was paid w/ bonus!

So from time to time when I see something amusing here I will continue to comment and hopefully save some naive soul on what will surely turn into a very bad experience and wasting their value career / time on this company.

I worked in medical for a while, it was one of the worst experiences of my life. Management is beyond cruel. You will have no work/life balance. One of the worst things I found is that we were treated like sales, we were told what to say and how to say it, numbers and $ are all they care about. I worked for a completely unethical group. Run.

I'm there now and it's the same as when you were there!

Stay away. Top Leadership is the worst you will ever see. Next level down is even worse. All smiles and then stab you from the front. Bottom wrung directors. Half are ok. Maybe.

Like a crappy vendor, they do a good job selling to external talent but the final product is poop. Stinky poop.

You’ve been warned.

Does the CV division even have anyone working in marketing ? Don't think they do seriously. Where's the auto ship of the holiday piece ? What brainless numbscull came up with a sealed blank white envelope for one of the best resources in our bag ?

Just about Everyone who was there in medical has either left or if stil there is wanting to go. Not good. Over a short cycle. The left overs? Be afraid of them.

Compliance is BS. CMO is a joke. Death by meetings. Too tight with $. Don’t dare to say what you think. Expect your best colleagues to switch and go elsewhere. Churn. Marketing uses medical to blame for their problems. Political issues and turf issues are rampant. Very little trust.
