Is Astellas really that bad? Same issues as other pharma
Come on, it's not so bad whiners. Work hard anywhere and you get ahead, here it's the same. Don't work hard, then go somewhere else.
Yes it is that bad. The culture of the company has changed over the last few years, and has gone from feeling like a small company to feeling like a Pfizer (and how many people do you think accepted the job with Astellas because they wanted to work for Pfizer?). This may be due, at least in part, to the filling of middle and upper management positions with ex-Pfizer employees and the implementation of Pfizer selling and micromanagement philosophies. As the above poster stated, there is no work/life balance anymore. Emails and texts come at all hours, there are endless trackers, and regardless of how well you perform, you can expect to be harassed and to be subjected to personality attacks.
Goals are difficult to reach to say the least. One may be tracking at above 100% according to weekly data, but you can expect that number to be nowhere close to 100% when final numbers are issued. I'm convinced that the massive delay between weekly and final numbers is a result of "cooking" the books. For example, doctors write prescriptions for 30 days, but when our number of prescriptions is calculated, Astellas says a prescription is 34 days instead of 30, thus instantly and significantly decreasing goal attainment. Seriously Astellas, in what world does a month have 34 days?
It would be fine if there was fairness involved in day-to-day assessments, but everything is subjective and illogical. What happened to numbers being the most important measure of performance? Because whereabouts are constantly questioned, reps do things to electronically place themselves in the field to prove they are where they claim to be (i.e. get gas in every town). The paranoia is out of hand. It's just become a nasty company.
Why we all don't give our call plans with doctors on it who we don't have an indication for is beyond me?!? I think FDA needs to continue to hear about the corruption and people who leave the company should be encouraged to go to FDA if they move out of pharma. I understand those who stay in pharma wanting to not expose the truth for fear of hurting future job ops, but seriously it is unbelievable what this company has gotten away with in the two years I worked at Astellas. I did and am giving my "documentation" to the FDA representative I contacted. If anyone else would like to also contact the FDA Representative I spoke with, I will be happy to post her name.

This company is a complete shit hole
I encourage anyone that is aware of the large scale corruption at Astellas to contact the FDA. Do not go to the compliance group. Prior experience has shown that they will immediately begin by destroying any evidence that they can find. And compliance will not protect you from retaliation. HR is a waste of time also. The agents at the FDA will be very happy to speak with you concerning Astellas. All complaints are taken seriously. All complaints are fully investigated.

You may also want to send a letter or email to your congressmen or senators. If you are reporting that federal regulations (laws) are being broken, (non-compliant actions) their staffs must pursue your letter through the appropriate government enforcement agencies (Justice Dept., FDA, etc.) to protect themselves as holders of public office. Some ultra conservative cogressmen and senators staffs might just bury you email/letter, but most will have their staff pursue it properly. Sometimes democracy works; sometimes the (smart/active) little guys win.
I would also start printing out any helpful emails detailing the deep corruption at astellas. My experience is that the managers/crimminals running astellas are incredibly stupidly arrogant and do detail large scale non-compliant (law breaking) actions in sometimes extensive email chains. Be careful once the management /crimminals are on to you, they will have the crooked compliance group wipe out your entire email database (a crimminal act).
Well I am off to the cafeteria for grub. Ya know, even the cafeteria was better in this company a few years ago...
