Ilumya NSM Post Meeting Thoughts

I’ve never been to a meeting where very first session totally leveled a sales team like AG. We know Iluyma is behind goal and appreciate honesty but had a “read between lines” tone = be looking for job if this doesn’t turn around overnight. Commercial good but don’t brag about money spent because if you are going to compete in this space you have to have DTC campaign so don’t boast it is Sun’s first campaign like we should hang our hat on that because it’s what we have to do!
Did anyone think IC guy was one who really flat out told us no more credit for EAP after July 1? Half the people on my side of room didn’t know cutoff date and others said KF gave an idea of timeline? Either way we know true date.
Territory Goals, other companies I’ve been with set true goals representing each specific territory before a 12-18 month benchmark. Yeah yeah we are at 6 month post launch date but to me this isn’t fair and balanced that they look at all territories equal and then ask why aren’t we producing.
I appreciate marketing department efforts and trying to get stuff rolled out to us but consensus was it’s too late with resources.
Did anyone else feel chill from other Sun teams? The evil looks and comments shouldn’t be directed at TMs because we don’t make business decisions and we are busting our asses and getting it handed to us everyday. Not a joyride.
Only thing I liked was Dr AM speech. Good guy.
ST and FL seemed like they wanted to give quick thanks and get hell out of there.
And stop with the “thanks for all you do” ass kissing comments from the Texas table!! Every damn meeting!
Felt like video at end was desperate plea saying “hang in there don’t resign.”
Bottom line majority of people on buses back to airport felt overly stressed, pissed and on phones looking for next job.
So back in trenches we go! Bet Abbvie’s launch meeting was way different this week.

All hugs and kisses on the last day. Enjoy your time left. Produce or get cut loose.

Here are the key issues with the Mickey Mouse Meeting:

AG is a little, scared douche (loved the ‘tea boy’ reference about his side-kick btw). Big bark, no bite or brains.

While he’s espousing the threat on us, the real read behind the lines is “shit, this whole thing is on my watch. I am the one who has screwed this up, so I’ll either threaten of fire the reps (that I hired). And man, it’s not just Iluyma, the whole US business had a horrible year. Goodness, I hope I’m not either arrested in the US or banished to the slums of India by Dilip.”

That’s what’s going through his mind.

The internal strife is as clear as the sky over the Magic Kingdom. Undercurrents, complete lack of clarity if not down-right conflicting information. DTC is a nice to have but it’s not the silver bullet, and my bet it was sold that way inside. It’s a requirement for a post-launch resume update.

Our NSDs ... how, just how have they sold their still having a job ? Utter ...

I’m not going on any further.

It was a bad decision, I got sold, and I’m out.

Motivational poem of the day

So as we leave the House of Mouse,
and hug the team farewell.
We remind ourselves once again,
why Ilumya did not gel.

It started with home office
All inept at best.
And big ideas from India.
Bigger egos than the rest.

It shifted down to managers,
all second rate they are.
Giving orders on how to sell,
and stinking up my car.

Then came all the promises,
no product and the HUB,
no access, nor SUN loyalty,
the launch an all-time flub.

Or course there was poor data,
priced as high as one could think.
The derms are laughing in our face,
stuck to Abbvie without a blink.

So here we stand with pressure,
from clowns who never sold.
We going home to our loved ones,
Sun‘s story getting old.

Good God what a cluster.
New TMs I felt bad for as they looked bright eyed and happy to be there at first breakfast and by end of meeting looked scared shitless.
Felt like I was talking to my four year old when I ask her a direct question like “did you put glitter glue on dog” and obvious she did but makes excuses. Trying to get clarity and true answers was almost like a game. Instead of that Amazing Race game we could have played “who gets an honest answer first” game. Some really good folks on salesforce but some RSMs and the NDs need to go. I couldn’t tell if ST was trying to hide her fear of getting asked a question or just has the “I don’t give a shit” look permanently on her face because she is getting paid big bucks and riding it out looking down on us like “suckers!”

We were all sold and it sucks but we’ve given it this long and tried and now it’s time to move on.

AG came on strong but now everyone sees through him. He is weak and clueless and everything around him is failing. All we get from him is micromanagement of who goes to AAD. My advice is get out before it all collapses. DSS needs to hire a real pharma CEO but will never pay the 7 figures- HBR paper in the works lol

My thoughts from the NSM:

No one above TM's is ever going to accept any responsibility for this total debacle and web of lies.

KF, ST and FL can't even look us in the eye.

Spending $100 million on DTC without refining our processes first is extremely foolish and wasteful.

The PIPS and terminations are next.

As the previous poster stated, it's time to move on.

Does anyone remember the TM getting shut down/hushed when she tried to ask a question during compliance session? What the heck?? Does no one answer questions here?
I mean it’s talk about same old stuff but someone had a question so answer it!

Zero eye contact!! Not a good sign by senior leadership.

He is not capable of doing any more than that. He holds a big title but can’t carry the role. He’s shown to be a worthless piece of shit.
I used to think this could be a HBR business case, but quite frankly the answers to making this a success are too obvious - so there’s no learning for the students. A 5th grader could figure this out.

Indians are way too high on themselves to think they really f’d this up.
I’ve not met Dilip but have to believe he’s got some smarts. Can you imagine what he’s thinking? Probably which tin-roof shack he’ll put AG in when he finally yanks him outta here.

Dilip must be stressing out- all too soon the investors will be demanding heads as Odomzo, Yonsa, Cequa and now Ilumya are all epic failures and all down to epic mismanagement- the few people who actually knew anything about pharmaceuticals have all left and all we have are washed up 3rd raters with no where else to go. A grand Success !!!!

What a fuckin’ tragedy - oops I meant strategy. I always get them mixed up.

My thoughts are this. Sun is run by a bunch of freaking r*****s that have been tossed out of real companies on their ear. This was the most dysfunctional meeting i have ever experienced. This company, their drugs (Ilumya especially), are nothing more than a shit stain on the market. Start looking now amd sell ur ass off to the next company on why they should hire you from this abyss.

Actually I disagree that the drugs are a shit stain as you say. Odomzo has better data than its competitor. It’s just the shit show led by the serial failure of Mark H that has led to it underperforming Novartis THAT DID NOTHING and hit A 5% share. With 2 years of effort we can’t do 10%. Ilumya reports are really quite good from the (very) few docs that have used it. If works!! Just WE CAN’T EXECUTE under Abhay, Steve, Kyle. Sorry not the drugs fault at all. All down to the people

Since joining the company, I can definitely say there’s an issue when it comes to execution. I don’t know how much is attributed to people, processes, principles, or profit, but we can seem to do anything (or what we do isn’t done right). Very, very frustrating.

We at Sun know it could be better and the NSM was not a happy, glad to be here time. But looking at all these folks getting laid off and in the unemployment line we need to be grateful we aren’t in that line with them yet. Keep game face on, do your job, and save money because the Ilumya force knows our days are numbered. Enjoy the weekend and get ready to get back out there Monday. Gotta stay positive even with how bad it is. I know it’s hard and we are getting beat up every damn day but better to have a job than not.

Nice LinkedIn post of Ilumya team in photo booth looking bombed at NSM event. C’mom think before you post. LinkedIn isn’t Facebook and enough with all the hashtags. Might want to take it down as it’s not professional and RSM said we aren’t allowed to post anything. I think someone was even holding a beer. I’m all for a good time but maybe not the best post especially at this time.
