ICER is Negative

So the final ICER report is limiting Vascepas potential, citing the industry cant afford to pay for this for every eligible patient. This is not good. Obviously PR is out in full force today and will try to put a spin on it, but damn it puts a damper on things.

Bullshit, ICER came out positive! Quit spreading bad information out there you troll!

Guess you didnt read ICER's report or granowitzs immediate rebuttal. Foolish to believe its positive. Cant always drink the koolaid spewed down the chain of command.

It wasn't negative, but it wasn't very positive. OP brings up very valid points but the doom and gloom is alittle over the top. ICER did say that vascepa will not be cost effective for "everyone" bc it addresses such a large need. But it doesn't mean that it's not affordable for the market we are going after in general. Hoping those up top find ways to make it affordable for everyone, which in turn, makes our job easier. Managed care is gonna still be a thorn in our side even with an updated indication. It's just the world we operate in.

That’s my takeaway also, cost. We need to partner with a huge sales force such as Pfizer or Novartis to maximize the great potential of this product as we simply can’t handle it for the benefit of patients.

You do realize that if we “partner” with big pharma we will be out of a job

I had a ride along with my manager this week. He assured us that it’s business as usual and the company has our best interests in mine. Stop spreading negativity. Always remember, it’s patients and employees first.

I find it hard to believe any manager. This whole expansion has been kind of a cluster and information seems to change frequently lately. Also, direction from up top is highly specific to calling on the highest deciles with high frequency and they are really focusing on metrics right now. That concerns me bc it takes out the territory level leeway we had in the past to making smart business decisions on who to call on. Sure, they always have wanted us to focus on our "targets" but they also seemed to understand that we know our territory better than they do and said just get the business wherever it makes sense. Right now, they are de-valuing making smart business decisions, and trying to make us run the territory by chasing around hard to reach targets which is completely useless in terms to making numbers pop. It's a waste of time. This tells me they are in bed with the idea of showing other companies how we have executed on paper to the highest decile targets so we can be sold off. Just give us data and tell us to get the business, then watch numbers grow. Putting metrics in place and strictly enforcing them only slows us down from truly maximizing the potential of the brand.

Your comment is absolutely STUPID!

How is it stupid? Did you read the final Icer report? Cost was a major issue. The best way to combat that is to have “more boots” on the ground to reach a larger audience. We simply aren’t built for that. That’s why we need to partner. I definitely can use help in my territory and frankly looking forward to it.

You’re new to pharma. Must be. Always remember - shareholders first. And managers won’t know of any buyouts until MAYBE a few hours before we do

I'm loading up on shares. You are right, shareholders is who we all work for as in any publicly traded company. This is a winner for shareholders. This is not a long term safe haven. Make yourself a huge amarin shareholder and you'll come out on top. Now go promote more so my shares go up.

More boots on the ground und means hiring the sales reps we said would be joining us NOT partnering with another pharma company and splitting our pie with them. Many of the reps we promised have cardiovascular and diabetes experience with these companies you mentioned. These are seasoned reps with years of cardiovascular experience and have customer relationships with our HCPs. No need to partner with those companies that will tell us how to run our business! That will open a whole can of worms!

It would benefit patients all around the world if we partnered with Big Pharma. I’m all for it. We don’t have the size for that.

So what have you heard about the expansion? Why have more reps not been hired? Does anyone know how many have been hired?

Haha, you must be a millennial or someone who has never worked for Big Pharma! Those of us that have worked for them know that they would eat us for lunch if they could. Amarin, please don’t go there!

The expansion is at least halfway to two thirds complete at this point. Probably need to hire around another 100 or so to fill the original quota of adding 400. They are holding off bc of the ADCOM announcement and delay to receiving potential updated indication which wont be read out until mid to late december. Late december is the absolute latest for a ruling but if adcom goes well, they will likely begin filling those final open positions. Dont need reps on ground until closer to that time and they will likely be hitting the field by new year. Adcom happens in mid november.
