I learned something this past weekend...

New to oncology, just worked a conference and learned that Eisai Oncology is not respected at all. Not by other reps, not by the HCP's, no one. I'm glad to be given a chance to break into oncology, and I tried to ingnore the noise, but it is true, I really had no idea that we truly are the bottom of the barrel and viewed as less than. One nice senior rep said just get your two years of oncology experience and get out...you do not want the stain of Eisai on your resume too long, she said her manager wouldn't even consider someone with Eisai on their resume...that made me a bit nervous. She actually used the word "stain" to describe Eisai a resume...

Anyone else already know this or feel the same?

we had an ABL a few yrs ago that was great and a RBL that was terrible. The ABL bolted. Now we have an RBL that is great and upper management that is terrible, guess what she is about to do. Smart lady.

What’s funny is that’s been the story here for years…thought we were in oncology with Fragmin, only to learn we were a supportive care division. Bought some oncology assets and companies, failed miserably with those, launched two underwhelming products that are fledgling at best. All the while operating and paying like a primary care entry level company.

Eisai oncology is a bastion of misfits who by and large are unhireable elsewhere.

The Japanese really don’t know anything about the US market (but think they do) especially in complex areas like oncology. The only times they haven’t embarrassed themselves as a company is when they had two large co-promore partners to do over 90 percent of the heavy lifting. They’ll never be willing to set aside their egos and invest what’s required to become a legitimate / respected company. That includes paying for the right, needed and competent talent.
