I know my Area VP slept with a rep

After reading all this, particularly the post above me, I have to ask: Should my husband who is considering pharmaceutical sales, look for a different occupation? Are sex and extramarital affairs that prevalent that he might be tempted to stray? :(

Right now he is being offered a job and most of his coworkers are or would be female. I am confident, so that doesn't bother me. However, am I going to have to worry about these or other "girls" in the industry propasitioning him? Especially at training conferences? His potential manager is female too...

I think we might heed your advice and move along, in the non pharmaceutical job industry.
If you're going to respond, please be kind. I'm not judging anyone but we are certainly not going to jeopardize our marriage by inviting this behavior into our life. To each his own, I suppose. What works for some, doesn't for all. And if all these stories are true, than this lifestyle wouldn't fit ours.
Pharma is not the industry to be joining right now or really ever. It is a dead end job. It is a huge mistake in this economy . A man in a solid marriage with good morals has nothing to worry about. A hound dog on the other hand would be in heaven.

A good marriage or not, temptation and the thought of what you don't know or won't find out is another. It's not just the men either. The women in this industry are just as bad. Mix in meetings, alcohol, hotels. It is a frat party for most. Marriage doesn't have the same meeting it probably once had. I left the industry but can't stay away from these boards when I'm bored. I will tell you I have seen it first hand and sad to say I lost my marriage because of it. I tried to save it by leaving the industry but my spouse could not get past what I did. Too many people saw and knew what was going on and people talk.

The sanctity of Marriage has never changed. Moral people value it and always will. Sleazy people have always been around , the media glorifies everything now . You can 't blame a certain type of job or industry on the demise of your marriage. Priests cheat, waste management employees cheat, stay at home moms cheat. Temptation is everywhere and the choice to pursue it is your own. Your spouse does not have to forgive you, second chances are not a guaranteed. Before you slip the condom on you should think about 5 minutes of pleasure or a life time of regret. Not rocket science( no pun intended) here. You play you pay. And like your mama said you are judged by the company you keep !!!

I went through a cheating scandal with my spouse. They cheated on me with someone at work and people knew and it was all over the company boards. I found out just by clues and then checking into things. It scarred me and now I finally crossed the line this week because someone treats me like I have never been treated. This person is kind, loving and just caring. I haven't slept with them, YET, but we have kissed. I know this can go to the next level. This industry destroys families, period.

Let's hear more about what is happening. Sounds like a juicy story in the making.

In this industry you either need to have an open marriage or be single. You will end up divorced if you are married. Your best bet is to have your spouse let you run while you are away at all the meetings and let your spouse do the same. If you can live your marriage that way if will survive. The guys are pigs and can't be trusted, the women are no better. Most places the men run the shows so the women do what it takes to get there. If a woman is in charge, they play the game too, not all but most.

I disagree. When I was single I had a few steady hook ups at meetings. They were fun, no commitment, but geographically undesirable so it was going nowhere. Now that I'm in a committed relationship, I have zero desire to cheat on my partner with anyone, especially at the stupid meetings. I can barely stand to participate in the mandatory evening functions and get out of there as soon as I can. Hooking up with work associates is so '90's. To each their own.

I don't care what managers or VPs do as long as I have a job. Screw them.

I am in a job to make money for myself. To hell with being ethical, making friends, and loving what I do. I work for the money. I got my own sex life to worry about. People focus on too much stupid shit.

Are you talking Vp or Prez? Should I spell it prez?

What's the big deal? Sex is Sex. We are all human. Don't judge what you don't know. If a BJ helps you succeed or keep your job then you do what you have to do. Everyone has their talents and uses them to the betterment of their position .

I can top all this! At our company we have an HR Director who slept with the CEO and then fired him for flirting with another rep (sexual harrassment) at an Awards Meeting!

New CEO and board won't fire her because she has too much dirt on the company.

Not making this up!

And the best part is your dumb won't look for another job because "its a perfect fit", right?
