I am worried about my job

I am worried the AZ Summit contract will end very soon and I will be wondering how I am going to make ends meet. There is not much out there and it is depressing to live this way, always wondering if I am going to have a job...and for how long. I don't feel valued here because I am paid so much less that my AZ counterparts. If you are on the Summit team, share your thoughts here.
 


















Contract reps are always paid less, just go out and get selling....otherwise the contract will end.


Agree, go out and sell, and keeping looking for a normal pay job. Unless this gig is zero stress and your spouse is rolling in dough most reps will leave when a better job appears. No company should play dumb about reps being offended when regular reps selling the same products are making buckets and buckets more money. What do they expect if not a jumping ship sales force!

Just don't get caught looking. Most managers are looking as well but some of them will come after you if they suspect something. Just keep it to yourself.

And the question is, why work contract? It seems like a temp job for everyone. A stop gag till the real thing comes along. OK for those without many financial needs, the independently rich or the retired on social security. For reps its really low money and for managers its about the same pay as a good manufacturer rep job.
 






Quit worrying and start looking...your a drug rep with plenty of open time to get the resume polished up ...start making calls and talking to people...please don't say your a soon to be unemployed drug...you'll get a blank look and nice reply of "gee,don't know of anyone hiring drug reps"...tell'em what you want to do , not what you've been doing.

As far as dinner programs, that's kind of bullshit. It really depends on the contract. We were asked to complete at least one per month with the end goal of completing twelve -fifteen a year. Also...as far as managers are concerned, you answer to not one DM as with a manufacturer, but two. Coming from both sides, a management position is much much much easier. Being in a group with more Chiefs, you are less under the radar and given a little more respect. It's the preferred way to pick up a paycheck. The next time a recruiter calls and asks you to work another contract, tell him you would like to interview for management. That sometimes gives you an in.

Entitlement...are you kidding?

Contract does not offer enough money to pay basic housing and living expenses. Unless you live in the deep south or some mid west paradise who could even get by? What a joke. Actually its an insult to the real pros amongst us. Being a rep in contract leaves you without the ability to save a dime. Why would anyone stay or even sign on? Unless you're a manager or have a high level job its not worth the hassle to sign then face more another layoff without notice or severence.
 


















No job is secure: contract, non-contract or in any industry. I would advise looking into inventiv. They have a lot more contracts coming out soon.

I probably shouldn't post this, but I am about to retire. Here is a little secret:

I honesty think inventiv is the best company out there. they offer a relationship with their employees, unlike any other company.

and there are no kool aid drinkers. and they have good products. and most importantly, the pay is good and they treat their employees like adults.

This is the OP. When I first posted this thread, it was before the announcement that the contract was extended. However, I am still worried to some degree. Contracts do not seem to mean anything when they can just end them early. Of course, I still do not feel valued because of the low base salary compared to my AZ counterparts but it beats not having a job at all.

I've heard that they have required that in the past on some contracts. That is a bit much for a contract company that states that they never require you to deal with the stress of attendance. I agree about management...if you can deal with the travel.

For many, they would much rather possess the knife that cuts the throat instead of having to be the one with their throat cut; therefore they enjoy management.

OK, Boss. I'm sure you really give two shits about us. You and your board of cronies are a bunch of phonies who couldn't cut it in the real world and hide here among the JV team, like the rest of us losers. Let's call it like it is and please can the bullshit.
