Is there an age cut off at your company or expereince cut off?
I have applied to various posts at the company and never been brought in for interview.
Problem is i have over 20 years in the business but highly successful and in fact his year i am headed for second president's club in a row.
But , not even a phone call. I can only think age issues

It's not you. You have no one on the inside helping you out. This is pharma. Anyone with an IQ of 10 could do this job. Look at the folks who get hired. Pharma is an incestuous. That's why things will never change. Everyone hires who they know or are comfortable with. That's why managers here go out shopping with their reps. I don't know you but you're qualifed. With your experience I'm sure you've seen folks hired who weren't qualifed to work at The Dollar Store. It's all about knowing the right folks. Apply at Abbvie, the CEO didn't even go to college.

To the original poster---absolutely no age cut off. At my initial training, there was one person there hired at 60, one at 55, and several at 50+. We just hired a new guy with 33 years exp and he's in his late 50s. Age discrimination is no problem at Astellas. Japanese value their older reps. I love this company....

I was hired with over 30 years experience and in my fifties. There were alot of mature, experienced reps in my training class including several in their sixties.. No discrimination here..Love this place.

That is really great to know. I think it's great that this company embraces diversity. These days the Drs value the more experienced and more mature reps. Good to hear that Astellas does, too.

I've been here about a year coming from top 5 pharma co after 21 years. This place has real org issues and leadership challenges. Most likely we'll be under a CIA soon because of lax compliance dept. No age discrimination at Rep level, but all management is mostly young white males. If you are African American forget about any career options. Upper management works with HR to remove "difficult" reps through performance plans and other pressure tactics even though performance driven entirely by plan coverage. I'd recommend another company unless you're in an area with no other choices.

This is such BS! Not true at all. Ima black woman and gave done jst fine for myself here with hard work and skill development... Try it!

Not true? Really. How do you explain only 3 black managers and ZERO black directors or VP's across the entire salesforce? A sad fact that defines a culture of discrimination.

Looking for quality people is harder than one thinks. The fact the DB is still around is amazing. Why hasn't the ASD position been filled? The search continues for a qualified minority candidate. Why not fill positions based on real qualifications rather than race?

I interviewed awhile back..thought the same...gotta dress the part...and be a high maintenance girlie girl to get a job. I am thankful I am NOT a part of this company. Didnt seem very well run to me at all..and i keep following the threads here..and know a rep who IS in the company...she bitches and bitches...she's not happy either..always complaining about upper management..she says everyone has primary care mentality.

Looking for quality people isn't hard at all, every company has the same challenge. But it is difficult when you work for a company that discriminates against black employees and minorities. Most individuals hired here, especially in upper management, are former "buddies" and "good old boys". You don't have to look very hard to see that.

I've been here over 10 yrs. The last 4 have sucked but the idea that Astellas discriminates against racial minorities is delusional.

I didn't realize that ethinicity was a skill set! I am sure in any interview process that managers are looking for people who have developed themselves and their skills. People who bring some thing to Astellas other than just their ethnicity......like contacts, market knowledge, a sense of medical knowledge......if you want in it requires some work on your part ....no one hands jobs out due to entitlement. What do you bring to Astellas?
