hey- most every Oncology rep I know started in primary care- so what's your point?

The reason Oncology sucks is because they brought over to many stupid CV reps not qualified to sell oncology. They are using their primary care mentality and pissing off the accounts.

BMS oncology is a steaming pile of shite. Back when Taxol was the gold standard, everyone there looked down on virology as red headed step child (we were under the same business unit and went to the same national meetings to listen to Lance Armstrong and Robert Urich speak...), then the Erbitux fiasco led to downsizing and virology was IT with the purchase of DuPont and launch of Reyataz. Now 15 years later, oncology is a behemoth with 6 reps stumbling all over each other and virology has been given last rites. Stick around long enough and oncology will self implode. BMS is one of the most poorly run pharma companies today and shits all over the field force.

I worked there for a while, and it was a terrific company. However, it does appear that whittling down to what it has become (so many eggs in one basket) eventually backfire. The stock seems to be holding up despite a drop-off last year, though.
