No. old guy. Your "every man is an island" mentality went out with Robinson Crusoe.

And Obamacare isn't "one size fits all". It expands and enriches the private insurance industry. Ensuring some basic standards merely lessens the likelihood of "junk" insurance policies.

The insurance industry operates on the concept of risk sharing/pooling. Their success and power forced pharma to compete for formulary status to gain access to their millions of policy holders.

Please wag your gnarly finger at Aetna, Blue Cross and the rest, or go back to your bingo parlor and gripe when the number calling doesn't go your way.

Are you for real? Many of the plans on Obamacare cost north of $500 a month and have upwards of 6-8 thousand dollar deductibles . Are these the "junk policies" your are referring to? If so I agree 100%. Of course the insurance industry is salivating over this, they see an endless # of scenarios were they will never have to shell out a dime because of the stupid mandates under the "Affordable Healthcare Act" (an oxymoron if there ever was one) provides all the cover they will ever need. The only thing missing for this to be the ultimate wet dream for the insurance industry is for millions of suckers to sign-up (if they can even log on to a web site build by a squirrel). The pharma industry fell for the same siren song when they went all in on MedD thinking that now we have great access to all our drugs. Somehow getting into bed with the government is never the thrill ride you hoped it would be! Go figure

And this one worked in the pharma industry, possibly for MRK (which purchased Medco Rx--Can't beat'em? Buy'em.) All that time he thought the health care industry was a sham, but he probably bought stock in MRK and possibly was awarded options (when options meant something).

From his description of the olden times when "everyone" easily paid out of pocket for med care, hospitalization and Rx , he probably collects a pension and supplements his corporate handout with dividends from his stock. He hates SSI, but cashes his monthly check anyway, and that socialist Medicare? Don't you dare take that away!

Yes, Virginia---there were hypocrites at MRK even back in the old days when only men were reps and managers and VPs and CEOs. Yes, those were the days!

Hey clueless, I've read your responses to the above posts. First of all, what the hell are you talking about? Your disjointed ramblings may impress the morons in your bowling league but frankly you make no sense. Do logical coherent arguments just not register with you? All the things in healthcare that you think are so costly are that way precisely because of the system you seem so hell bent on defending. And what the hell do pension benefits, dividends from stocks , and the old days when "only men were reps" have to do with anything? You may feel secure ,and like the idea of a nanny-state, but there are a boat load of people who are fed up and don't want to pay for this insanity anymore. If the definition of stupid is making the same mistake over and expecting different results you my friend fit the bill

Picking a CEO based on gender is easy. I could care less about race, how many X chromosomes someone has, or what god they pray too, as long as they are competent proven leaders who can make tough decisions and accept accountability when things go wrong. But I guess affirmative action and gender rebalancing have made such trivial requirements passé
 




Women's health has not always been safe as one poster pointed out. October 26th, 2011 they whacked an 11 year vet ranked in the top 10% who blew out quota every year. Winner of multiple peer awards and designed reports that helped the region drive the business. A lot of good people left that day because a consulting company decided to re-draw territory lines. I was one of them left on the outside. I'm glad my old friends still have jobs. Keep Merck going I need my pension one day.

Glad to see articles on Nuvaring's risks like this one...Bravo Huff and Puff Post!! If this type of article causes less women to use this and other dangerous Merck products, I am all for it...Even as a former employee and current stockholder, I really want to see Merck crash and go away, as it really is a corrupt and evil entity...(I don't even care if the value of my stock goes down--btw, the only reason I keep the stock is that a sale would have tax implications.)

I wish Merck would just sell off their junk products, fire everyone, and call it a day...

This is the guy that led his medical liaison group off the cliff to unemployment while currying favor with the new regime that is coming in to take his former groups place. He played politics to slime into a CTL position with the new HSC/Medical Affairs Director group at the same time he drove the HSC group off the cliff.
