How In the World Does Women's Health Remain So Untouchable

Without a doubt, Women's Health is the best division you can possibly be in at Merck,
as far as job security goes....

It amazes me how teflon this group is? I know the Women's Health CTLs are total
butt kissers, and it looks like it is paying off with Senior Management...

Look for WH to survive 2014 and beyond unscathed...they will float around on their nice
little eddy, among some very turbulent white water...

For those working in Women's Health, you truly are the chosen ones at Merck...

expansions happening?

"Women's health" is such an oxymoron. Like they have a prevention for breast cancer. Joke.

yeah....I don't get it?? The only thing that department prevents it the birth of tomorrow's liberals from the single and ready to mingle crowd...

why Merck wants to pay reps 100 grand a year to peddle contraceptives is beyond me...all the stuff is on the government formulary now anyway...

Hey, Sandra Fluke needs her contraceptives covered! So much so that she was trotted up in front of congress to plead her case. How can the rest of us sleep at night knowing that this injustice exists? We should all be disturbed when places of higher education and private companies balk at paying for this stuff. I mean, what's Sanda suppose to do, carry around a bag of condoms whenever she wants to get her freak on? Forget those winey wounded warriors and fly covered kids from Africa this is a tragedy that none of us should tolerate!

"... I mean, what's Sanda (aka Sandra Fluke and millions of American women) suppose to do, carry around a bag of condoms whenever she wants to get her freak on?

Since you don't carry your condom, someone has to take precautions? Right?
Men ARE a necessary component in a situations that could make young'uns. Right?

Now you be a good fella and take your Viagra, Cialis or whatever it takes to get your freak going. And mama will take her birth control pills, so she doesn't have to raise your mongrel offspring for eighteen years.

If your stuff is available on the insurance plan, hers should be available, too. Right?

Sometimes it's just a conundrum when men who "claim" they like women behave like they don't like women--not in the slightest.

Bravo!! Hilarious posting and very true....since the LEFT took over Amerika, things just get crazier by the day...

Once again a liberal misses the point. Why should any of this crap be covered on any plan. Contraceptives, ED drugs whatever. Insurance is for when your house burns down or you have a heart attack not for your "reproductive choices". Healthcare costs are sky high because everyone thinks someone else should pay for their stuff or it should be covered on some plan. Just pay for it yourself! Going to your primary care doctor and having them fill out and send in a mountain of paperwork to an insurance company for a $70 appointment is ludicrous. Apparently these same winey liberals have no problem paying for car repairs (a new transmission is a hell of a lot more expensive than your contraceptives), cable TV and their smart phones that they use to tweet out the drivel of their vapid lives

And this dimwit works for a pharma company that depends on Rx availability on insurance company formularies.....?

When you need an Rx or a medical opinion, do you pay out of pocket?
Or do you use your Merck-supplied insurance and Rx cards?
Oh, but you're probably never sick, and God knows you have no family to support.

Applying your "logic", Rx for hypertension or high cholesterol should also disallowed. If people would just exercise more and eat better, they wouldn't need that crap.

You're in the wrong business, Sonny.
Go work for Wal-Mart. It suits you better.

But, then again, Merck has no products to promote.
So you may be a Wal-Martian sooner than you think.

Again you just don't get it. I worked in this industry long before MedD, intrusive government meddling and Rx coverage and PBMs. Before all this idiocy people paid cash for their prescriptions, and guess what, the free market allowed competition to keep prices in check. There still were generics but they were a few bucks cheaper not $50. Why we treat basic medicine and drugs differently than anything else we consume in this society is beyond me, it only serves to distort the market. Healthcare coverage isn't insurance its a maintenance plan, something that you wouldn't buy for your car because of cost.
If this system is so great I imagine you are waiting with baited breath to go to Wal-Mart an buy your tier 2 food that's all one price.

Do you work for Merck? Maybe or maybe not.

The fantasy about pricing structure is ludicrous. Keeping prices "in check" for medical necessities isn't part of US history. You fail to understand the concept of risk sharing/polling.

Timely and effective medical care is a necessity for everyone, and has no connection to commodities like automobiles. And what exactly do cars have to do with this issue?

You may be on Medicare and Social Security, but you accept those handouts.
if not, your idea of survival of the fittest might just work out. If your ilk has its way, Medicare and Social Security will be obsolete by the time you're eligible.

PS: You don't even know grocery shopping at Wal-Mart. Does Mom still prepare your food, or do you go to McDonald's for your evening meal?

My do you have a short memory or were not here at the end of 2011. October 26th, a Wednesday I believe. 20 plus percent of the WHC sales force was cut. Most were above and beyond star performers who were sacrificed for making too much money. No reason will ever be given. Just take the Golden Parachute and be happy to get it. Get off your high horse and remember===NOBODY is SAFE in this industry. Look at it as a year to year contract and be happy to collect the big bucks while you can. It can be wiped out in a heartbeat and nobody is safe. There is just mainly contract positions out there if you are in the position of having to find a job and the pool of candidates ===HUGE from all the downsizing in the entire industry.

Shut up, quit whining and enjoy the position you have now. If you are let go=== Have fun finding ANYTHING that would replace what you have now.

Happy Holidays you big bunch of whiners!!!!!!!!

It is a political liability not to be doing WH.

Again, why is it so hard for people like you to imagine a system where you go to the doctor, they spell out what there're going do and how much it will cost? Strep test $45, routine physical $100 etc... Yes you still have insurance but that's the point, it is for hospitalization or big medical procedures. Offices would cut down on billing cost by not having to do the 2 step tango with every insurance company just to recoup $50, and patients would know exactly what things cost. Walla! competition takes hold and prices come down. Also, if I could opt out of Social Security today I would do it in a heart beat. In fact, they can keep all the money they collected from me over the years , stop taking my money, and I will still be light years ahead financially when it comes to retirement. Medicare! really! another mismanaged fraud infected program put together by another group of great society politicians that think they know how to run everything (obamacare just takes this to a new level). I know individualism and personal responsibility is a difficult concept for someone who wants the government to wipe their ass for them but maybe if we tried some of these common sense ideas we wouldn't be in the mess we are today

And in the good ole days, your doctor used to come to your house when you were sick.

But even then, those silly house visits were a sign of getting soft---since health care was really only necessary when the scythe used for cutting down corn stalks accidently nearly lopped off your arm.

You know, back when the doctor gave you a bullet to bite to ease the pain of having the rest of your appendage amputated. You recall--back in the good ole days when the first tier analgesic was whiskey, and the second tier was that bullet the "doc" kepp in his pocket for such occasions!

How stupid of me, I guess the overly bureaucratic, chaotic, and inefficient system we have today is the way to go. You know, why don't we just have insurance cover everything, from nose ring piercing to butt-hole bleaching, we'll just spread the "risk" out over all the plan participant who have no choice in the matter. A one size fits all plan (aka Obamacare) will give us sky high premiums and deductibles, but that's a small price to pay for top notch healthcare. I never considered the fact that having people pay for simple office visits would revert us back to bullet biting and whiskey anesthesia. Thanks for showing us all the light!
